"Baby, I ain't rushing you or nothing, but I miss you out here. I need you" Mekai held Kyla's hand
He got no response, just the beeping of the machine that was breathing for Kyla.
After the horrible wreck two weeks ago, Kyla had been in a coma since. The car was practically balled up like aluminum foil. Leaving Kyla with two fractured ribs, a broken right leg and foot, a bunch of scars...and a miscarriage she knew nothing about.
"The doctors keep telling me how your condition is too bad to recover from, I ain't hearing all that. I know how strong you are" he nodded, giving her a pep talk
"I can't lose you...you're my Sunshine. We got a bright future together, I need you more than my next breath"
"Those are some sweet words" a voice said from behind Mekai
He turned around, seeing it was Kyla's dad, Eddie.
"Fuck you doin' here?" He immediately got defensive, standing up and getting in his face
"Son, calm down. I was just coming to visit my daughter"
"I ain't ya damn son, and I'm sure if Kyla could speak for herself right now, she'd let you know yeen' got no relation to her, Camryn, or Sylvia."
"I just need to make sure she's doing ok. My wife won't let me visit and won't tell me anything. I'm not here to cause trouble"
"You've seen her, now get the hell out"
"I can't have a few moments alone with-"
"Hell fuckin' no"
"Alright" he nodded sadly "I can accept that." He looked back at his daughter once more before leaving
Mekai was heated at the fact that Eddie would even have the balls to show his face. He wanted to fight him, but for the respect of Kyla, he kept his cool.
"You believe that shit baby? He poppin' up here like y'all cool" he went right back to talking to Kyla and holding her hand
"You gone make them put me back in the institution, I'm in here talking to you like you can respond" he chuckled a little
He felt her hand tighten around his and gasped. "Oh shit. Can you hear me? Squeeze my hand again if you can"
It took a little longer this time, but Kyla squeezed his hand again.
"I'll be right back baby" Mekai got up, running into the halls
"Doctor! She squeezed my hand!"
He got the doctor's attention, and they headed into the room where Kyla was laying.
"You say she squeezed your hand?" He asked Mekai
"Yeah, hard too. It's like she heard me talking to her." He observed the doctor as the doctor observed Kyla
The doctor continued examining her, making sure everything was ok.
"Kyla, if you can hear me, squeeze my hand" he placed his hand in hers
He waited there for a good minute, and nothing happened.
"Kyla, squeeze my hand" he repeated
This time, he waited a little longer. Still, nothing happened.
"Maybe you're just tired or something and imagined it" he told Mekai
"Nah, I know what I felt. Try again"
"Son, go home and get some rest"
"I ain't ya fuckin' son!" he was growing angry of all these people and their shit
The doctor stared at him, shocked.
"You know what" Kai chuckled "Maybe you right man, my bad" he pat his shoulder
"Alright. Are you staying the night with her or-"
"Yeah, I'm staying the night."
After that, the doctor left out.
"I know what I felt. Keep up the good work baby" he said to Kyla
Maybe his mind was playing tricks on him, but who knows?
Very brief chapter, just to let you know what happened.
