"What's going on? Where she at?" Mekai rushed into Kyla's hospital room
Sylvia called him here, but didn't tell him why. But from the looks of Kyla not being in her hospital bed, he feared bad news.
"Mekai..."
"Come on Ms. Sylvia, don't beat around the bush" he wanted to to know what was going on, even if it meant his world would come crashing down
"The doctor called this morning and told me that Kyla-"
"Hey baby" Mekai heard a sweet, all to familiar voice behind him
He turned around and Kyla was being wheeled in the room by one of the nurses.
"Yo..." He gasped, staring at her "Yo..." was all he could get out from being so overwhelmed
He went in for a hug, squeezing her a little, but not too hard. She hugged him back with everything she could, considering her body was still in pain.
"I love you so fuckin' much. You're my world, my entire life" he whispered into her ear as tears of joy left his eyes
"I love you more" she pecked his lips, going right back into a hug
Sylvia stood with tears forming in her eyes while she witnessed the two showing the biggest amount of love to one another. She'd never seen her daughter so affectionate.
"What you doing out of bed?" Mekai asked after they pulled away
"They needed to give me a MRI, to make sure everything was ok" Kyla explained as the nurse helped her in the bed
"Well is she ok?" Mekai asked
"She has a little bit of memory loss, but she remembers the important things, so that's good." the nurse said "You need anything?" She asked Kyla
"Nah, I have everything I need now" she smiled at Mekai
"Damn I missed you" Kai smirked at her
"Every day I spent away from you would've probably been hell, if I was woke" she made some bittersweet humor
"Don't worry, it was for me" He chuckled
"I'm gonna go get Cam from daycare, she misses you so much." Sylvia was glowing with joy
"Ok mama."
"I love you" she pecked her daughter's forehead
"I love you too"
After that, it was just Mekai and Kyla alone. As much as they wanted to be even more affectionate right now, there were things they had to discuss.
"About the baby-" he started
"I don't wanna talk about the baby" she shook her head, looking down at her lap "The doctor's told me what happened"
"I understand" he put the conversation aside for later, knowing she was still vulnerable "Do you at least remember how everything happened?"
"No, the doctor said it'll probably come to me later. Since it was a hit and run, detectives will be questioning me, investigating the case, and blah blah blah"
"How you know all that?"
"That's the first thing I heard when I woke up" she chuckled softly "My mama was on the phone telling Ms. J about everything, and I was being nosy"
Mekai was glad that Kyla was overall her normal self, he knew that sometimes people lose themselves after traumatic incidents like this.
"So you ever heard me talking to you?" He asked
"All the time, worrisome ass" she laughed, holding her ribs "I just couldn't say anything back"
"I knew I won't crazy" he realized the irony of what he said "Well... I knew I felt you grab my hand"
"I did, just to mess with you" she winked
"Even bothering me in a coma" he side eyed her
"You love me bothering you" she pecked his lips
"I do, and I apologize again for getting drunk and-"
"Kai, please stop bringing up bad times. I just wanna enjoy life with you and be happy"
Mekai was kind of shocked that she was doing good emotionally, he expected the worse "Ok, I feel you baby"
"Good, now come lay with me" she scooted over as best as she could
This chapter is a little rushed, so it's very sucky. Summer school is over soon, so hopefully things will be better.
