Chapter 15

                  Completing a Promise

"I'll think about it." I said, turning my heels and walking to my doorstep.

Kiah's car drove off.

Quietly, I twisted the doorknob, hoping that my mom was not on the other side waiting to give me a loud stern speech about how I should've been home and how something could've happened to me.

I was surprised to see my mom passed out on the couch while the TV was still playing The Flash. I smiled. She looked so peaceful.

I smiled again, and looked at her. Her face was smushed on the pillow, and her legs were spread out on the couch with a big brown blanket. I bent over and gave her a kiss on the head. Then, I pulled up the blanket a little to cover her whole body and turned the TV off.

I walked upstairs, and when I got to my room, I immediately took my heels off, throwing them carelessly at the carpet. I looked in the mirror and took off the light makeup on my face, which didn't take long. I changed into my pajamas, and jumped onto my bed, landing on my back as I sighed.

What was I going to do? Go to prom with Kiah, and be the talk of the school? Let everyone call me names because every girl who is together with Kiah is automatically a slut?

But what was my other option?

No one else asked me to prom. I know Alex and Brooklyn would have no problem letting me go with them, but I'd probably end up being a third wheel because Alex is probably going to ask Brooklyn. I really just don't want to ruin their date just because no one wanted to go with me.

I could just not go, but I want more out of my high school experience. I spent most of my high school career worrying about grades, tests, assignments, and deadlines, and I didn't want to waste the little time I had left as a teenager. It was time to come out of that version of myself and open up. 

I took a deep breath and sighed, and suddenly, a text popped up on the screen of my phone.

Kyle : Do you have a date for Prom?

I looked at my screen curiously. 

Me : No, why?

Almost a few seconds later, he replied.

Kyle : By honoring our arrangement, I got you a potential date to Senior Prom. His name is Aspen Woods.

Hey, guys👋🏽. This chapter was short, but I promise the next one will be longer. I just got back from a summer trip, and I was in rush to finish up the chapter in the two week deadline.
