When he fell the heavens screamed

When he fell the sky broke into a frenzy

When he fell the flowers disintegrated into ghastly thorns

When he fell the wings off his back crumbled away

When he fell the fine jeweled clothing he once wore tore away

When he fell his arms stretched out, hoping to grab onto some hope but alas there was none

When he fell his sparkle dulled

When he fell his worldly possessions were stripped away

Leaving only rug sack and cape to his name

When he fell the cheers and chants transformed into solemn silence

He fell

He fell

He fell.

On the ground he lay, naked and vulnerable as the day he was born

A Prince without a Kingdom

He lay in the barren fields, unmoving and frail

His heart still and hope shattered

Fae was he

A fae that's all.

A lone tear travelled down his cheek, the only response he could muster.

"I've failed. I've failed."sang his thoughts.

The branches wrapped around his skin, blooming leaves as they twirled

Like a serpent strangling a mouse, they covered his exposed form

Coldly and delicately the branches engulfed his form

Brilliant and beautiful emerald and blood burst to life

Golden stars danced along the wooden arms

Shimmered and shinned until they were no more.

Adorned with fresh clothing and clear off dirt he felt alive

sprouting hope grew in his heart

A twinkle returned to his eye.

When he rose he stood tall and proud

When he rose he grew in strength

When he rose he never felt alone

When he rose one thought chorused through his mind

"I may have lost the battle but the war has just begun."
