The next morning, Loki sat in a corner of his prison cell reading a book as usual. His green eyes followed the words on every page. After finishing each page, Loki would lightly lick his index finger and then turn the page. His eyes never left the book, even when obnoxious new prisoners came barging in with Asgardian guards keeping them from escaping. Loki's eyes were focused on what the book had to offer.
Then, two guards marched into the prison side by side. It was abnormal for guards to come in from the front without any prisoners to lock up. This caught Loki's attention. Loki slowly looked up from his book, being sure to mark his spot with his thumb. The guards walked up to his cell and looked at Loki.
"You are required by Prince Thor today," one of the guards stated. Loki was puzzled and he furrowed his brow to display his confusion.
"Prince Thor has asked the All Father if you could help him and the others bring peace to the realms during the Convergence. The king agreed, and today is the day you start," the other guard said. Loki slowly nodded.
What? Why would the king let me fight with that mewling quim, Thor, and the others? Surely, he doesn't think I am worthy of such a privilege. That idiot! If he is the king, shouldn't he be smarter than to let me out of my cell for such a pathetic reason? It doesn't matter now... I get to go free, out of my cell. This is my chance to escape and possibly take my throne! It was my birthright to be king! Odin simply denies it! I will show him who is worthy! Loki thought as the guards unlocked the cell and let Loki out.
Of course, they had to take precautions. The guards handcuffed Loki well before they marched him out towards the Rainbow Bridge.
===============================
Meanwhile, Thor and the others waited at the Rainbow Bridge. They were chatting as always.
"Oh, and I must tell you something," Thor said. "My brother is coming with us." The others were shocked, but it soon turned to anger.
"Loki?! Are you insane?!" Sif shouted, "Have you any idea what he has done?" Fandral nodded in agreement.
"Loki has brought nothing but trouble! He will surely try to escape during the battles! He is not to be trusted!" Fandral yelled. Volstagg shook his head.
"This is not good. You cannot just allow Loki to roam about with us," Volstagg stated as he ran his fingers through his beard.
"He can be of use to us!" Thor argued.
"What will he help us do? Get killed?!" Sif shouted. Thor shook his head.
"Just because he is your brother, doesn't mean he won't betray you," Volstagg said. Fandral nodded in agreement.
"Please, just trust him," Thor said.
Out of the corner of his eye, Thor saw three people approaching the group. Thor turned to look at them. It was Loki accompanied by two guards. Loki's handcuffs looked heavy on his thin wrists. Thor smiled.
"Brother! At last you are here," he said in excitement. Loki didn't show even the slightest smile at Thor's words.
"Great, now let's go get killed," Sif coldly spat. Loki turned his gaze to her. This time he had a small smirk on his pale face.
"Let us go, shall we?" Loki suggested. Fandral rolled his eyes while Volstagg briefly scratched his beard. Thor nodded and grinned.
"What are we waiting for, then?" he said as he walked towards Heimdall's post. The guards unlocked Loki's handcuffs and stood by just in case Loki planned to try something. Loki grinned and walked past Sif, Fandral, and Volstagg, who glared at him the whole way. They followed Loki and Thor to Heimdall, where they were transported to a different realm.
