Chapter 32

There seemed to exist some form of unspoken tension between Laksh and Ragini. She always pretended to be asleep to avoid speaking to him, and he also used that opportunity to greedily look at her all he wanted.

The day for Ragini's operation was finally here. This time around, Laksh accompanied her to the operating room. He held tightly unto her hand: "Ragini, the operation will be successful, don't be scared, I will be with you."

This time again, Ragini did not know that Laksh had arranged for her operation to be done. She looked at him coldly, pushed his hands away and closed her eyes.

The anaesthesiologist started with the anaesthesia. In a daze, she could hear someone whispering into her ear, swearing an oath: "we live together, we die together, and I will never leave you alone."

"Laksh, the surgery is about beginning, kindly exit the room." Laksh shook his head, "I'm staying here with her, and she would be scared if I'm not by her side."

The doctor looked bemused, "how can she even feel fear when she is unable to feel anything because of the anaesthesia"

What he doesn't know is that Laksh is staying more for his sake than for hers, his heart was filled with fear.

"Alright then," the doctor said, "we would make this exception for you, but during the operation, please keep quiet, no matter what happens, do not interrupt the operation. It's best not to make any sound."

Laksh nodded his consent.

At the end of the operation, the doctor said: "The Patient now needs to be sent to the intensive care unit for observation and follow-ups. She also needs to be checked regularly for stability and given her medication. Half of her stomach had to be removed. She needs to take extra care with regards to the food she eats and alcohol as well. Her stomach is now very weak"

Ragini had a very long dream while she was unconscious. In the dream, there were monsters chasing her and she kept running from them. Suddenly she crushed into a warm bosom, a gentle voice firmly said to her: "we live together, we die together, and I'll never leave you alone." she couldn't see the person's face, she could only hear the familiar voice. She raised her head to look at the face and... she regained consciousness.

"You're awake Ragini?"

She looked at Laksh sitting by her bed and was confused. Did she only dream or he actually said what she had heard in her dream.

"Water ... I'm thirsty "...she opened her mouth to say, but no sound came out.

Sensing her need, Laksh picked up the cotton swab, dipped in into the water and wet her lips with it. She unconsciously brought out her tongue to lick her lips.

Just this action she did made her irresistible to Laksh. But he had to control himself, she was now beginning to recover from her operation.

"Do you want to see the baby?" Laksh suddenly asked.

Ragini's face instantly lit up at the mention of her baby. Then she became weary, "why was Laksh making her see her baby now? Was it for her to say goodbye to the baby?"

Antoni walked in with the baby in his arms "our son is going to grow up to become as tall and handsome as me, his father"

Not being able to keep it to herself anymore, Ragini asked. "so when are you planning on telling me that you are getting married to Kavya, and that because she can't give birth, you are going to give my baby to her?"

Laksh was furious! Kavya is the one who has been feeding her with all these lies, it had to be her. But what time did she secretly get to see her without his knowledge? For now she had no strength, so that could wait.

He tried to explain himself: "Ragini, the only woman I love and have always loved is you. You are the only one I want to get married to, nobody else."

Ragini was totally confused. "What was this man talking about? For the past 20 years he had made it clear that he was interested in Kavya alone. More so for the past three years, he always made it a point to remind her of how much he hated her. So what was he talking about now?"

Laksh was frustrated! How was he going to explain to her that she is the one he had been interested in all this while, but for this mistaken identity? Well, the time will come for that.

"Ragini, just have it in mind that I love you, that's all that matters now"
