Standing in the doorway, Arin stole a glance at the living room. It wasn't anything fancy, yet nothing too bad. "Well, this is home. It's not shabby for my first house here in L.A. I and Brian share the house, at the moment. He might move in with his special other soon though." Danny explained beckoning Arin to sit on the couch.
"Its a house, at least. A classic suburb house." Arin agreed. After a few minutes of awkward sitting around, Danny started to talk, "So. What's up?" "Gas prices," Arin answered, attempting to be funny. "Pretty much."
"I wanna know some more about you. Talk my ear off, we got nothing to do." Dan offered Arin.
"My life story?"
"Sure.""Ehm. I lived in Florida. I moved here two months ago, I used to work at Disneyworld. That is it." Arin concluded.
"Dude there is so more than that, I know that much."
"I have no life."
"Nah."After talking for a while. Arin had slumped down onto the sofa and Danny had put his legs up next to himself. "So Arin Joseph Hanson. You lived in Florida. And now you're here. You plan on working at an art store. As a cashier," Danny started repeating Arin's story.
"You are Leigh Daniel Avidan, you grew up in Jersey, and you are Jewish. You started Ninja Sex Party with Brian a few months ago. You've only ever actually had sex once," Arin explained but got cut off, "Wait, what was that last one?" Dan questioned. "Oh, I put some pieces together and got that you've only had sex once. Which is okay because I have never." Arin forced out with laughter, followed by Dan chuckling away. Arin smiled widely and became entranced. He felt like he was back on the bus. Seeing every movement. Without thinking he moved closer to where Dan was sitting.
"Hey, sorry to interrupt. I need to talk to Dan." Brian had just walked in the door, startling Arin back to the other side of the couch.
While waiting for Dan to get back, Arin starting thinking.
How? How did any of this happen? What the actual fuck? I know that I have a thing for him. I'm not denying it. But how do I hint? I know more. Wasn't he moving? Why have I forgotten about that party? Damn, I am such a procrastinator that I put off my own feelings. I followed him across the country and back. What if he does leave soon? I feel weird. What is going on? It's almost 9:00 at night. Do I have to go? Oh god. Has anyone called me? Is everyone okay? I haven't talked to anyone but Dan. Arin's mind raced. He made a fist with his hand and landed it on his knee. Taking a deep breath as Danny walked back into the room.
"Hey, dude. Are you okay?" He questioned noticing Arin's distress. As Arin looked at Dan, he saw a story. He couldn't read that story then, but it was there. Danny went to Arin's side, put a hand on his back and the other on his knee. "What happened?" He questioned.
"Uh, it's nothing. Can we head to my apartment? Suzy is on her way there. I gotta see her for a bit. I'm so sorry." Arin quickly explained and stood up. "Oh! Yeah. It's pretty late. Let me grab my keys and tell Brian I'll be back." Dan seemed to give a small smile.
The entire car ride back was silent. But when Arin opened the door of Dan's car, Dan said, "Stay safe. Have a good night. I had a great time today. Text me." Arin nodded and shut the door. Before he drove away, he could've sworn he heard him say, "Please."
But Arin didn't pay a second thought to it and rushed to his apartment. Suzy wasn't there. She was never even planning on it. He didn't talk to her
The next few days, Arin hadn't even talked to anyone. It got worse in the following week. He worked every day, yet he would only ever talk to Customers and his Boss. Not even his Co-workers. He became a shut-in. People texted and tried to call him every day. He didn't answer. He wasn't even sure why he didn't. He was too afraid. He had no idea why. That week's end, there was a knock at his door. Expecting it as a neighbor or a mail-person with a package. But the person standing there was the last person he expected.
"Arin. Come with me, please. You are not working today are you?" Brian Wecht asked seriously. "I just got off. Why?" Arin asked suddenly terrified. Still, in his work clothes, he took his apartment keys and nudged Brian out of the way so he could get them both outside, and he could lock the door.
Brian never answered his question, just took Arin to his and Dans house.
I died while writing this, and the next chapter is probably coming out Sunday. I have to take some time for me. Hope you enjoy this and get ready for better quality writing!
