Katie

The scars lining her arms no longer made her want to hide. No, now she wanted to show them. Let them tell her story.

She'd always dreamed about going to a ball, but now she wanted away. Away from the people expecting so many things from her. Expecting so much from her, but she'd never get anything in return. She felt like a doll. Showing her perfect ginger hair in the same bun. The same dress always concealing all of her arms, hiding the "imperfections". Now, after tearing the other dress they picked out for her, she couldn't help but love the feeling of the cool air on her arms. Her hair now down laying over her shoulders.

She felt...comfortable. Even in the dress, the length going to her knees in the front, but in the back it goes down further, much more modern than the dress she put aside.

And now, walking into the ballroom, she couldn't help but try to hide the smile wanting to appear as she saw everyone's eyes on her. This was her perfect Cinderella moment, and nothing could ruin it.

Except...looking down at the people staring at her with awed expressions, the one that seemed to only matter was his. His chocolate eyes taking her in. She wished she could hide the blush appearing on her cheeks as she began walking gracefully down the stairs. To everyone watching her, it looked as though she gave no effort in walking down the slippery marble stairs in her dangerous shoes, but to her she had to hold in her breath with each step.

"Hello." She heard his voice breath in front of her. Looking up after finally making it down the stairs, she looks at her prince charming in his perfect suit. His hair nicely combed, in a way making his hair look silky and soft.

His eyes looked at her, her scars now shining in the light.

She smiles at him as he asks her, "Would you like to dance?" He holds out his hand to her, waiting for her to take it. Finally, she puts her hand in his and lets him bring her to the dance floor.

Soft music played in the ballroom, making all the beautiful couples come together and share this moment of peace together.

She was the only one in white. All the other girls trying to copy the Empress's looks, only making her stand out more.

Her dress didn't have lace. Didn't have the long length that would lightly touch the floor. It only had a simple white silk cloth.

But he wasn't focused on the dress. All his focus was on her. The new smile on her lips. The way her hazel eyes seemed more happy.

And they danced.

They already finished stitching my toe. And now...I have to wait in the room by myself.

After waiting for half an hour, I almost jump off the side of the bed when the metal door pops open, Baden walking in, a smile broad in his face. "Oh Katie, we got someone to come and bring you back to your room." He says, as if only now noticing me in the room.

Then, as if on cue, the door opens again, Zane walks into the room. I freeze. Now...honestly I was expecting Tony or Jace, cause normally that's when in books the author gives her characters time to talk with their characters love interest...not that Tony is my love interest...or Jace...but normally this would be the perfect time for them to talk.
