Sera's P.O.V.
I sat at the kitchen counter, smile on my lips as I held my phone up to my ear. "You're kidding." I exclaimed, running my finger around on the granite mindlessly. "No, I'm serious! I flipped but missed the dock while landing and fell face first into the lake!" Max insisted, laughter teasing his voice through the phone.
"Well remind me not to ever take you to a lake!" I said teasingly. "It won't be hard to remember." Max replied. A silence fell on the phone before Max spoke. "So what's something stupid you've done on a first date?"
I chuckled nervously before racking my brain. "Well... It wasn't a date but there was a time where I was fighting over a lobster with a guy and I ending up shooting him with a water gun." I heard Max laugh from the side of the line. "Why were you fighting over a lobster?" I shrugged even though he couldn't see me. "What can I say? I like my food."
"I guess so!" Another comfortable silence fell on the line before max spoke. "Well I have to get back to work." A frown found my lips. "Okay, I guess I'll let you go."
"Well I'll call you tomorrow around the same time."
"Sounds good, bye."
"Wait, Sera!" I stopped my thumb from hanging up the device. "Yeah?" I heard him clear his throat on the other end of the line. "I was actually wondering if instead of calling each other, you would want to meet up for lunch?"
My mind went blank and I felt my stomach erupt in butterflies. "Are you asking me on a date?" I whispered, still not blinking. "...... Yes." Max answered.
".........."
".............."
".................. CCCHRHRJSKDCKCKK!! Static! SCBRHISGJSJ! I'm losing you! CCRERAKKUCK!! I'll have to call you back!" I yelled, hanging up the phone. I threw the device away from me and landed it in the kitchen sink. "Darn it." I muttered, hearing the plop of the water.
My hands traveled through my shoulder length brown hair, I let out a thick huff and pulled at the skin on my face. "What's wrong with me?" I complained, hopping off the stool.
"What am I even thinking, I can't date anyone!" I scolded myself, pacing around the living room couch. My eyes fell on the picture I had of me and Loki, still face down on the tv stand. My feet took me over to it and I reached out to turn it upright. What was so bad about living in the past anyways? I've made it this far and being miserable almost feels normal.
"NO!" I yelled, jerking away from the frame before I could touch it. I forced myself over to the house phone on the small table beside the couch. I quickly punched in the numbers and put the phone up to my ear. "Tori, where are you?"
She answered and my face grew confused. "What are you doing in Fiji.....? Well I don't care if you're on vacation, I'm having a crisis......! No, it is nothing like the time where I couldn't open the bottle of shampoo........ Look, can you please come back? I really need to talk to you.......! I can't talk to Levi because it's a girl thing..... Sofia is at a job interview..... Please??? Thank you!!!"
I hung up the phone and clapped my hands with excitement.

I heard the sound of a rocket landing in the back yard and it brought me out of my trance. I set down the book I was reading and turned my attention to the back door. Just then a black and blue Iron woman stepped through the door. The face mask peeled back to reveal Tori's slightly wrinkled face.
"You have a suit too?" I questioned, raising a finger. "I'm a Stark, of course I have a suit." Tori remarked, earning a nod from me. She stepped out of the metal and took a seat beside me on the couch. "What's the emergency?" She asked, pulling her curly hair over to one shoulder.
"A week ago, on Christmas Eve, while everyone was asleep I went out to a bar and got drunk." I kept my eyes on the floor as I spoke. "Because, like every year, I couldn't get all the memories of Loki out of my head but seeing all of you guys happy and together really made it harder... So I got drunk but there was this guy there that I met and I don't remember much of him but he was really nice. He took me back to the tower and left his number on my arm and I've been talking to him ever since."
Tori stayed silent before clearing her throat. "Honey, are you still getting drunk every night?" My eyes widened at her question. "Goodness, no!"
"Then I don't see the problem." She said in a softer tone than usual. I swallowed the lump in my throat before looking her in the eyes. "He asked me on a date today." Tori's crystal blue eyes widened. "Oh...."
"Yeah." I whispered, pulling a brown curl behind my ear. "What did you say?" My best friend asked. "I just hung up, I didn't know what to do and now I think I ruined everything!" I exclaimed.
I shook my head and did the best to keep the tears out of my eyes. "Tori, I don't know what I'm feeling. Why do I even care? He's just a guy and I'm a girl, that's all." I felt Tori move closer to wrap her arm around my shoulders.
"Is that all you are?" I bit down on my lower lip at her words. "No..." I felt Tori's hand start to rub circles on my back comfortingly. "Every time he calls I get so excited, and whenever we talk I can't remember a time I was happier... Those darn butterflies won't go away."
A single hot tear drop fell off my cheek and sizzled as it landed on my wedding ring. "Do you want to know the worst part? I wanted to say yes to him! My heart was urging me to go on the date."
Tori shook her head and licked her finger before wiping the next hot tear from my eye. "This is not a bad thing. This is a good thing, you found someone!" She insisted. I fiddled with the jewel on my finger before speaking. "But what about him, I almost feel like I'm betraying him."
"You're not betraying him, Loki is dead!" She kept a firm eye contact as she continued. "He was a big part of you life but that part of your life is over! You don't have to forget it but it's been three years, you need to move on... Maybe this is a good way to do it."
I licked my lips and refused to let any more tears fall. "You're right, you're always right... I'm just scared, honestly. I feel like if I do this then something bad is going to happen!" I confessed.
"Well if this guy screws up then I will kill him for you." I let out a laugh and felt the weight of the past roll off my back. A smile found my lips and I nodded my head. "Okay, I'm gonna do it! I'm going to go on the date."
I pushed myself to a stand and began to walk around the couch. "Right now?!" Tori questioned, shock in her tone. I nodded my head. "I need to go before I change my mind!" I answered, pulling a jean jacket over my yellow shirt.
I put my purse over my shoulder and pulled the door open. "Thank you!!!"

I stood outside the door of the barber shop patiently. Max stepped down the small stairs before looking up from his phone. My heart skipped a beat when his eyes locked onto mine. "Sera! What are you doing here?"
I let my hands fall against me thighs and sent him a genuine smile. "How about that date?" Max's lips curled up slightly. "Now?" I nodded my head and waited for him to say something.
He ran over to me and embraced me in a hug. I let out a laugh and wrapped my arms around him torso. "I would love to go on a date with you!" He said, softly pulling away. I smiled up at him and for once felt free from everything that had happened.
I was happy.
