Chapter Eleven: Falling in Love

Eliza shifted nervously as she took Sergio’s hand, they had come for the blonde’s first scan since she had fallen pregnant; she was now six weeks pregnant and in four weeks they would be attending Nicole’s wedding.

Sergio had insisted that he joined her for the scan, he wanted to ensure that everything was okay with his unborn child; he was thrilled that the infant had a healthy heartbeat.

The blonde was wearing a white T-shirt in self-stripe with frill hem and black high waisted ultra-skinny jeans paired with black heeled ankle boots.

Stepping into the official looking building, Eliza didn't know what to expect of the midwife that they were seeing today; she knew that it was the same one that Vania had seen when she was pregnant with Daniella.

“Kathryn,” Sergio greeted making a blonde stop and look at the couple, she smiled as she spotted the werewolf and his mate as if she had been expecting them.

“I knew the moment I heard of your marriage that it wouldn’t be long until you came to see me,” Kathryn said as she moved towards the couple, Eliza looked at her confused before she noticed the smile on Sergio’s face; she didn't know what it was but it was clear that she was missing something here.

Kathryn turned her attention quickly to Eliza, she admired the blonde for a moment before she smiled.

“And I’m glad to see you didn't marry Lara… that woman doesn’t hold a candle to this one,” she said making Sergio grin as he drew his wife closer; he was pleased that Kathryn approved of Eliza.

“Shall we get on with the check-up?” Kathryn said making Sergio nod his head, Eliza was silent as she tried to figure out what was going on; she had a feeling that there was some history between Sergio and Kathryn.

“So Eliza, how have you been feeling?” Kathryn asked as she took the blonde’s blood pressure; she glanced at Sergio, whose eyes remained focused on Eliza as she talked about how she was feeling lately.

Kathryn nodded her head as she licked her lips, she bit her lip as she moved to make some notes before she told Eliza to make herself comfortable.

Sergio took his place by his wife’s side, he took her hand as Kathryn prepared to scan Eliza; the blonde shifted nervously as she felt Kathryn scan her stomach.

Eliza perked up slightly as the heartbeat filled the room, Sergio grinned as he sighed relieved slightly as the image of his unborn child filled the ultra-sound machine’s screen.

Watching the image appear, Eliza had to admit that even though she was six weeks pregnant; the unborn child that she was carrying looked around twelve weeks, something that Sergio had been warned her about.

“Everything looks healthy,” Kathryn confirmed though there was something in her voice that made Eliza look at her oddly, she didn't know what it was but it was clear that Sergio had also picked up on it.

The midwife shook her head as she did a couple of last checks before she finished the scan, Eliza prepared to change back into her clothes.

Sergio flashed her, a smile as he followed Kathryn out of the room, the blonde bit her lip knowing that something was going on and she was being kept in the dark about it.

Silently moving off the table after she had dressed, Eliza slipped quietly over to the door and opened it slightly so that she could listen to what was being said.

“I take it that she doesn’t know,” Kathryn said making Eliza lick her lips as she leant against the door as she listened, she had a feeling that she wasn’t going to like what she was about to learn.

“Of course she doesn’t… I couldn't put her through that, I love her Kathryn,” Sergio snapped making Eliza feel numb, he had never said those words to her and yet here he was telling someone else.

The blonde bit her lip as she listened for a moment wondering what else he was hiding from her; she licked her lips as she heard Kathryn take a shaky breath.

“Did you ever love me like you love her?” the midwife asked making Eliza lean against the door, her thoughts coming to life as she realised that her midwife was in love with her husband.

Sergio sighed and shook his head making Kathryn sniff, Eliza swallowed the lump that formed in her throat.

“She means everything to me… I would do anything for her Kath,” Sergio said softly making tears form in Eliza’s eyes as she thought about what he was saying. Kathryn sniffed and shook her head bitterly.

“Do you think she’d love you if she knew the truth about why you forced this upon her and took her from her life,” Kathryn spat making Eliza furrow her brow wondering what she was talking about.

Sergio snarled making the blonde step away from him, she had over stepped her mark and even Eliza knew that; she moved away from the door as a feeling bubbled in her stomach as she heard Sergio slam Kathryn into a wall and whisper something in her ear.

Sergio eyed his wife concerned; she hadn’t been the same since they had returned home from the midwife’s appointment, he watched her as she flipped through her book which was clear that she wasn’t reading.

“Eliza, is everything okay?” Sergio asked as he moved towards his wife, she didn't look at him as she continued to pretend that she was reading; he sighed as he took the book from her making her glare at him.

“I’m fine,” Eliza said making Sergio look at her concerned, there was clearly something wrong and he didn't like that she was hiding something from him.

Reaching through their bond, Sergio grinned as he felt the feelings that she was trying to ignore; he couldn't believe that she was jealous however he stopped when he realised that she had heard some of his conversation with Kathryn.

“So you and Kathryn used to date,” Eliza said glaring at her husband, she couldn't believe that he hadn’t told her about this; she didn't want the woman anywhere near her if she was one of Sergio’s ex-girlfriends.

Sergio sighed as he nodded his head, he had a feeling that tonight would be the night were the truth was brought to light; he licked his lips wondering how she would react.

“I want the truth Sergio… I have so many questions and I want answers,” Eliza said making Sergio nod his head as he sat down across from her, the blonde bit her lip as she felt him through their bond; she felt his love for her and was surprised to feel her own in response.

“I know… you don’t tell have to tell me now,” Sergio said making Eliza stare at him, he chuckled as he moved closer to her; he had felt her love for him growing lately and he didn't want her to rush into her feelings for him.

Taking a deep breath, the blonde watched him for a moment his brown eyes searching hers; she licked her lips as she prepared to ask the question that had been bothering her since they had married.

“What happened between you and my padre to make him agree for us to marry?” Eliza asked making Sergio take a deep breath, he knew what he was about to tell her was going to change everything.
