CHAPTER FOUR
Efficacious
⠀⠀⠀⠀It was around two o'clock by the time Scott and I got home. Thank god mom works late night hospital shifts, otherwise both of us would be in deep trouble. It wouldn't get any more worse than when Scott had to tell mom he bit me. I thought she was going to cry, but she just nodded in agreement as if she understood. Except when I left the room, I could hear her giving Scott a lecture on how he could have killed me. The argument dragged on for at least an hour.
I was to tired to talk, but Scott seemed very revved up about what happened during the full moon, so I decided to get through the conversation now instead of later.
The two of us slumped down onto my bed, Scott sitting upward as I lay on my back, trying my best not to fall asleep.
"Scott, what the hell is happening to me? Werewolves can't do that." I said, blowing loose strands of hair out of my face.
Of course, I was referring to my strange outburst when I tried breaking my hand. Which by the way, had not healed yet.
"I know they can't. Which is why we need to figure how it was possible to... to do what ever the hell it's called." Scott replied as he grabbed one of my pillows beside me, holding it in his arms.
"You mean the whole Shockwave thing? Yeah, yeah..."
"Shockwave sounds kind of scientific, shouldn't you be using something more... different?"
I couldn't help the scoff that escaped my mouth, so I tried turning the sound into a cough. "Right, like what? I can't name something if it's not suppose to exist, Scott."
I waited a while, expecting him to answer with one of his inspiring sentences. Instead, he just sighed and taped on his thigh, his expression blank.
"Get some sleep." He mumbled, throwing my pillow he was hugging onto my face.
"Scott!" I called to him before he could disappear into the hallway. "You may think you're not the best Alpha but... you're definitely the best brother. And I think that counts as something."
A large smile spread across his face, one of which I felt the need to return. "Thank you."

⠀⠀⠀⠀Thank god for weekends. The morning that followed the full moon, was a very long and boring one. I spent half the day sleeping and the other half watching re-runs of Buffy The Vampire Slayer. I can only pray that vampires don't exist.
Scott hung around for a while, but he decided to investigate more about the so called 'Mute' with Stiles. I wanted to go too, but they both wanted me to have at least one weekend of normality.
Not that I'm complaining or anything. Sitting in my room all day eating pancakes is fine by me.
Now, here I am on a Sunday morning, thinking whether or not I should do the exact same thing as yesterday. Half of me agrees to it, but the other half wants to go outside to a park and get some fresh air. Maybe I should ask mom to go? I haven't spent any quality time with her in a while, so I think it should be good.
I hesitantly stumbled out of my bed, the cold hitting me instantly. Grabbing the blanket I had been curled up in, I slung it around my back like a cape and began my decent downstairs to the kitchen where I knew mom would be.
"Hey sweetie." She said as I stepped into the kitchen.
She sat on one of the breakfast bar stools, sorting through various papers which I assumed were part of her work.
