Ch. 12

"Wait... you said WHAT??" Amandla shouted over the phone.

It was 3 pm. Amandla is laying on her bed with her laptop open, doing homework.

"Look, I was really pissed off, I wasn't really thinking when I said that, I didn't mean it." Khalid explains to her.

He sits on the couch.

"Khalid, why would you say that?"

"I'm so sorry, I didn't mean it like that, I just..." He sighs. "I was stressed out, okay?"

"You really need to apologize to Jaden." She warns him.

"I know, but he's been ignoring me all day."

"Do you want me to try to get a whole of him?"

"I'll appreciate it if you do."

Amandla sighs. She sits up on her bed.

"Okay, I'll see what I can do."

"Thank you so much, and again, I'm sorry." He says.

"No problem, and Don't worry, I'll take care of this." She smiles.

"Okay."

"Go visit Ella Mai."

"Okay, I'll see you later."

"Bye Khalid."

"Later."

She hangs up. Khalid gets up, and grabbed his car keys.

"Ma, I'm going to see my girl." He calls out.

"Okay hun, be safe."

He walks out his house.

He gave two knocks on her door.

"Come in." She said.

He walks in. When Ella Mai sees him, she instantly smiles.

"Khalid, you're here."

He walks to her, and gave her a hug. She started crying in his arms. Tears began to wet his yellow plaid shirt.

"It's okay Ella Mai, I'm here."

"I wish I stayed with you last night instead." She says, sniffling.

He pulls her back into a hug.

"Don't worry, he won't hurt you again, I'll make sure of that." He said.

She smiles a little.

"Can you stay with me the whole night?"

"Sure, I'll spend the night here with you."

Ella Mai scoots over, making room for Khalid to lay next to her. She wraps her arms him, as he gets comfortable with her. He close his eyes.

"I'm gonna do everything I can to protect you, babe." He tells her.

She kissed his cheek, and closed her eyes. Soon they both fell asleep.

A week later...

The officers left Ella Mai's house. She was sitting on the couch with her mom.

"Don't worry, they already locked him up."

"I hope he doesn't come out." She said. "I want him away from me, and Khalid."

She gets up, and head to her room. Her mother sighs, and goes to the kitchen.

"Hello Jaden?" Khalid says over the phone, sending him a voice mail. "Look man, I don't know what's gotten into you, but you really need to talk to me, like how many times do I have to apologize to you?"
