I Trusted Her

To the friend
Who came into my life
Like a soft, subtle breeze

To the friend
Who turned my life upside down
From sorrow to joy
From laughter to tears
From pain to gain
She changed my life
For good
Or so I thought

She entered my life
As a blessing
A companion
For a pained, lonely soul

I started to understand the meaning
Of friendship
A small, beautiful relationship
I wanted a companionship
Lifelong, for an eternity

I trusted her
With my little secrets
Kept hidden from the eyes of public
Yet made apparent to her eyes

We laughed and cried together
We shared stories till the dawn broke
We rejoiced at each other's victories
And teared at each other's miseries

I trusted her

I trusted her with one thing
That should not be trusted with
I believed her
'Coz she was my friend
My companion
No, she betrayed
She betrayed and grinned
Her sly smile sent thubderbolts
Into my weak heart

She betrayed
Unexpected, unfathomable
I built a palace of trust
And made her the queen
Yet she proved herself
To not be worthy
Of the title
To be trusted

Be careful
Of who you trust
And be careful
When you are trusted
For trust is a glass plate
Once broken
It will never be the same
