I Wish You Were There

I wish you were there
When beads of tears
Roll away on my cheeks
Drenching my face
With pain, fear

I wish you were there
When I look into the mirror
And my flaws and imperfections blind me
To tell me I am beautiful
To tell me I am 'perfect'

I wish you were there
When I was alone
To tell me
'I am always here for you'

I wish you were there
When I was bursting in anger
To cool me down
With your sweet, soothing words

I wish you were there for me
All my life
Not just as a friend
But as everything else
