Ice-skating

11 3 1

Slipping and sliding,
Falling, not gliding,
Tripping and landing
at your feet.

Laughter around me,
Embarrassment surrounds me,
Making it hard to breathe.

They stare with hatred
And pounce like vipers
When given the chance of
Fresh meat, a new target.

My anxiety builds over time.
I no longer feel alive.
A fear grips my heart,
But that is only a start.

The clumsiness and
Social stupidity get worse.
The laughter grows
And goodness knows
It is only time until the
Breaking point.

I stumble again,
But instead of rising,
I fall, in the midst of it all.
I shatter, I break
In this life, I no longer have a place.

The world is as cruel as
Ice-skating judges.
Even the simplest mistake
Can harm you
Can shatter your score,
Your place, your life.
