They were about to leave Hanamura when his question was answered.

It was just starting to get dark when it happened. Their hands were linked, their voices were soft, things were peaceful.

Then they heard the helicopter.

Hanzo tried to duck into an alleyway, but the spotlight found them. The fear in his eyes made Jesse feel so guilty. The Blackwatch logo on the side of the chopper stared the cowboy down, reminding him of his betrayal.

The archer was dragging him along, slipping into every dark corner he could. "I've been on the run for ten years," he growled. "I am not losing that streak to a fucking helicopter."

They skidded around a corner and came face to face with three Overwatch soldiers. They tried to turn around, but three more surrounded them. McCree felt himself slowly slip into a panic when he saw Genji was one of them.

Beside him, the Shimada froze in place. He was staring at the brother he had thought he had killed, standing alive and well before him. The fear in his eyes changed to disbelief, then hatred, then solemn recognition. He turned to Jesse, looking lowkey panicked. "Any plans for getting out of this?"

He shook his head, biting his lip. "I hate to tell ya like this, but... I'm not a member of the Arakaki."

Realization flashed in the ravenet's eyes and he glared at his companion, his gaze cold and unforgiving. "How.. You... This..."

The chopper was coming closer to the ground, making their hair blow in the wind. The southerner started talking without thinking, as per usual.

"Now, I know you're upset, but ya gotta listen t' me-"

"Oh, I'm far from upset."

"- Fallin' in love with you wasn't part of the plan."

Hanzo looked up at him, trying to process what he had said. Finally, he shouted, "This was planned? And you didn't think to tell me?"

"It would've blown my cover!"

"Which cover? Your loyalty to the Arakaki, or me?"

The words hit the brunet and he winced. The helicopter had reached the ground, and the wind was so strong it blew his hat off. The Asian's hair was still tied up in a bun, and the bloody yellow ribbon was flapping around wildly. "I didn't know he kept it..."

As he spoke, some of the Overwatch members started escorting the Shimada out. "That's not what I meant! If you'd of known you were bein' rescued, you would've let your guard down. Some other terrible organization like Talon could've caught ya! Darlin'-"

The archer's words were dripping with poison. "Don't try to weasel your way out of this, darling. What's done is done. You've dug this hole for yourself, and I'll be damned if I let you out of it easily."

McCree watched as the door slid closed, regretting almost every word he had said. He felt a hand on his shoulder and his body being tugged towards another helicopter.

"Great work, Agent McCree."

Turning to the side, he saw Strike Commander Jack Morrison walking beside him. What he should've felt was honor and pride at the compliment, but instead he felt guilt and heartache. "I don't deserve your praise..." he muttered quietly.

He let himself get dragged into the chopper, feeling like a dick. His guilt only grew when he locked eyes with Genji, who seemed surprised to see him there. After a moment, he asked, "You were a part of this, too?"

Jesse didn't answer and let the door close between them.
