Tyler's P.O.V.

"Ugh, I just hate funerals," my mom groaned, pushing a wisp of hair into her up do.

"Mom, it's about honoring someones life!," I snapped, "would it kill you to be respectful?!"

"Son, let's be honest. You're the only reason I'm here," she shrugged.

"You are insufferable!" I exclaimed.

"You sure are touchy today," she grumbled.

"Gee, it's not like I lost someone I loved," I replied angrily.

"Humph, I don't even see why you care," she scoffed at me.

Spinning on her heel, she walked away.

There was not going to be a visitation because no one wanted to see a person that died from a gun shot.

It just wasn't a pretty sight.

It was true that my mom hadn't wanted to come, and it took me hours to convince her to come even if it was just a short appearance.

I turned to see my friends walking up.

Dylan was fidgeting with his suit.

"God, I hate this thing, I hate funerals, I'm just not happy with this day," he muttered.

"Are you kidding me? The look on Allison's face when she saw me made wearing this more than worth it," Matt smirked.

Dylan looked pensive.

"Hm, I haven't seen any of the girls yet today, when did you see allison?" Zack asked.

Matt turned and just winked at him.

"Woooow, way to mourn," Dylan chuckled.

I looked at them incredulously.

"Do you know if the girls are coming?" I asked, changing the subject.

"No, I don't think they could handle it," Matt shook his head.

"Well then let's go," I shook my head.

Matt grabbed my elbow as I turned to leave.

"Hey bro, are you ok?" he asked.

I shook my head.

"No, it sucks losing someone this close to me,'' I ecxlaimed, "and my mom doesn't even seem to care,"

I pulled my arm away and sat down in the small sanctuary.

The service was just ending when the doors slammed open.

"TYLER!" Allison yelled.

I spun.

"Allison?! What the hell are you doing?" I demanded.

"They have a heart beat! She's alive!" she screamed, taking off.

My eyes widened.

Before I could think, I was running.

The infirmary.

I needed to get there now!

The guys and I were across the school in less than five minutes

"Let me in!" I demanded.

The nurse eyed me warily.

"Family and friends only," she shook her head.

"What do you think I am? I'm her boyfriend!" I yelled.

Her eyes widened a bit, and she stepped aside.

I stepped past her and into a room.

Kayla was lying in the bed, her black hair splayed around her.

A steady beeping could be heard throughout the room.

It was silent besides that.

The room was stuffed with people.

Kayla's friends, her parents, my friends, and me.

The same nurse that had been at the entrance managed to shove her way into the room.

"Excuse me, but I need everyone except one or two people to please leave," She instructed.

I planted my feet.

I was NOT leaving.

"Mr. and Mrs. Wallis, you need to rest," I pointed out, "I'll stay here with Kayla,"

Mrs. Wallis seemed hesitant at first.

"I'm not so suuuure," she mused.

"Hun, let's go," Mr. Wallis pulled her from the room.

One by one, everyone left from the room.

I moved to her bedside, and I took her hand in mine.

"Kayla," I whispered.

She didn't say anything.

Wait, I knew she wouldn't.

"Princess, you've been like this for four days, and I can't deal without you. Who else is gonna make fun of me? I love you so much, and I just want you back. You can't just leave me, that isn't fair," I shook my head, "Just, just give me some sign you're in there,"

I sat there, clinging to hope.

Suddenly, i felt her hand move.

"Kayla?!" I exclaimed.

She squeezed again, harder this time.

"Nurse!" I yelled.

She walked in.

"What is it young man?" she asked.

"She, she moved," I stuttered.

"What? That's impossible!" she rushed over.

"No, she squeezed my hand!" I assured her.

The nurse put a little water down Kayla's throat.

"Tyler?" Kayla whispered.

"I'm here!" I leaned forward.

"I heard you," she muttered.

"What?" I asked.

"I heard every word you said, and guess what?" she murmered.

"What?!"

"Chicken butt," she smirked a little.

My jaw dropped.

"Wow, sarcasm? Even when you just woke up?" I clarified.

"I love you?" she tried.

"You'd better," I warned jokingly.

"Sh, don't tell anyone thought," She shushed me, "It's a secret,"

She managed to wink at me.

"Hey," I shrugged, "Spies have secrets too,"
