CHAPTER 1

Hannah's POV:

Today was it. The last day before a new beginning. Sophomore year of high school has finally come to an end. Only 2 more years before I can be off to college away from all those who know I exist, not that anyone knows.

I looked in the mirror. I was wearing a greyish- black cashmere sweater, slightly ripped denim jeans and black combat boots.

As I walked downstairs, I heard some chaos in the kitchen. Walking over, I found my parents sitting and having their breakfast. I was bit surprised to see them as they usually were never home. Both my parents have businesses and keep travelling around the world, so it's unusual if they are around.

"Morning", my dad said.
I sat down on the kitchen counter beside him. I flashed him a small smile and ate my cereal. Having finished my breakfast, I said goodbye and walked to school. I have a car but I don't really like to use it that often as I prefer to walk.

As I entered the school, I saw a lot of chaos around. Everyone was running from here to there. I went over to my locker, took my books and went to class. Since, today was our last day, none of the teachers were in the mood to make us study and thus we had the entire day off.

Later, I went over to the basketball court to shoot some hoops. Basketball was the only thing that had kept me alive at school. I had good grades and 4.0 GPA but I wanted a basketball scholarship at UCLA.

As the day at school ended, everyone was in tears. They were all saying 'goodbye' and 'miss you for the vacations' and everything. Since I had always been a loner, these words or greetings never meant anything to me. I walked out of there and reached home.

My parents were still home when I came back. As I entered the house, both of them looked at me with amused faces like they wanted to tell me something nice. It felt a little weird to see them that way but I didn't say anything. I put down my bag and sat on the couch. They sat in front of me.

"We have some good news", my mom beamed.

"Ohkay...." was my response, not sure what else to say.

"We're moving to the other side of the town. You got a basketball scholarship at East Shore High."

Those words got me. East Shore High had the best basketball team in the state. They have won each and every basketball match they ever played. They had the best facilities and the best coaches. I was very happy. I hugged my parents and went upstairs to share this news with Hope. Hope is my best friend. She has always been there for me and listens to everything that I have to say without any complaints. If you're wondering, Hope isn't a person. She's my diary.

By the time I finished talking to Hope, it was almost dinner time. I had my dinner and went off to sleep hoping that changing schools would be a good start for me.
