The Smiling Moon

I looked outside the window in a night of may
The sky filled with stars, and the moon, it was the end of the day
The sunset done, darkness almost covered the skies
But on one part of the horizon I saw strawberry skies

The moon was smiling, on this hot yet pleasant night
It shone on the sky, giving out light
It smiled at me, and to you too
And left me and my emotions so blue

I remembered the photograph taken, you and her
A smile on your face, captured without a blur
Is it crazy that your smile reminded me of tonight's smiling moon?
Or should I let it go, and move on soon?

Sweet like candy, your smile was in that photo
Light as a feather, your thoughts and feelings also
Up in the night sky, the big, silver moon is smiling
Down on the ground, a broken girl is crying.
