Clouds

"I was laying naked on a cloud. A real cloud surrounded by blue sky. It felt like cotton candy, minus the stickiness. I felt a calm like I'd never felt before. I heard a sound, muffled footsteps. As I looked up I saw a man walking on the clouds coming toward me. He was like a living god. His body sculpted beautifully which I knew because he was naked as well. He laid down on the cloud with me and..."
"And...?"
Mia sighed. "My alarm clock went off."
Chloe leaned back in her chair. "Ugh. Why did you tell me that with no climax?". "Climax Chloe? Really?"
She put her hands over her mouth realizing what she had said. "No pun intended! Though I wish I had thought of that," lifting her blue eyes to the sky, she tapped her chin.
The two friends were sitting at their favorite lunch spot on the outdoor patio. Mia looked at her watch.
"Back to work," she frowned. As did Chloe.
It wasn't that Mia didn't like her job. She loved interior design and decorating but her boss, Katie, was a bitch. Chloe was the administrative assistant and Mia was the junior interior decorator which meant Katie telling her all her ideas were shit.
Then after she tells me they're shit, she uses them, Mia thought.
Unfortunately there was nothing that could be done about it.
I checked.
"Amelia" Katie screeched. "My office."
Chloe deposited her bag next to her desk and rolled her eyes before getting back to work.
Mia walked into Katie's office. It was a lovely space with a soft yellow and blue palette against white walls. Not girly and floral, but modern and abstract. The Pantone color art in white frames fit in perfectly with a small sitting area and Katie's modern glass desk. Katie had adored it when she saw Mia sketching out what she would want her office to look like someday. So Katie took the idea and applied it to her office.
Next time I'll do brown and orange. See if she steals that.
"About time!" Katie exclaimed, her blond hair flying as she shook her head.
Mia rolled her eyes when she wasn't looking.
"Is there something you needed?"
Katie huffed. "I asked you to work on the new decor for Mrs. Wentworth. Where is it?She's coming in at 2!"
Walking to her sitting area, Mia tapped on the glass coffee table.
"You mean this?" she asked innocently. She had placed the design and samples there two days ago.
"How would I know it was there?"
Because I told you?
"You can go and start on my friend's wedding decor."
Mia stopped. "Excuse me?"
Katie put her hands on her hips and closed her eyes.
"Mia. I told you about my friend Lizzie's wedding and that you would be doing all the work on the decor."
Um...what?
"You did not tell me about it. Probably because this is something for wedding planners, not interior designers."
Katie placed her hands atop her desk and leaned forward.
"You will do this because I just don't have time."
Was she threatening me?
"Hang on. You're the maid of honor. Shouldn't you be working with her? Special duties and all that?"
"Yes, I'm the maid if honor but I just don't have the time or patience for her!"
Then why did you agree to be maid of honor dipshit?
Mia knew there was no use in arguing, so she agreed to do it. When she asked to have a rough idea for a palette, Katie said "I don't know! Something beachy."
Man. One day, ONE DAY, without her flipping her shit. Is that too much to ask?
Katie pulled out a card.
"That's Lizzy. Call her about it."
When she got to her office, Mia put her head on her arms.
"I need a drink."
