It felt odd to not be in control of where you teleported, but Jason had pointed out that you didn't know where you were going. Jason's means of teleporting felt unnatural to you, almost artificial compared to your power. You wondered how this would affect Jason's health, but you were sure that Robin made sure the suit protected the wearer from life-threatening ailments.

"Nice place you got here," you said, looking around. "Abandoned building?"

"Yup," he nodded, walking towards a wall. "Abandoned factory to be exact, but who cares?"

Jason stopped in front of the wall, pausing for a few moments when a light scanned his whole body. It turned green after a few moments and disappeared as a hidden door slid open. Whistling, you walked over to him and looked through the opening, viewing the hidden room.

"Your hideout is in an abandoned factory with a hidden door to your actual hideout," you said, chuckling. "You are so ridiculous."

"I aim to please," he said, laughing when you elbowed him. "Come on, there's a lot to see."

He grasped your hand and gently pulled you through the doorway, guiding you through a workshop full of weapons and other items that he most likely stole. There were a few tools and spare parts lying around on workbenches, unfinished projects lay incomplete from at least a few weeks of neglect. You could tell from the amount of dust that settled on the tools and table.

"What are all of these?" you asked, admiring the unfinished projects.

"Some stuff that I've been working on," Jason answered, shoving some parts aside so he could sit on the workbench. "I was trying to make some improvements for the suit, but y'know, I don't have the blueprints for the suit so I can't do anything except break it."

"Well, do you understand the mechanics of the weapons and defenses of the suit," you asked, gently picking up one of the incomplete guns. "If you did, you could connect the already functioning weapons on the suit to this and have the suit just power it up."

Placing the gun down, you looked over at Jason, who looked at you like you found out the cure for cancer. Pushing himself off of the table, you watched as he scrambled around the room, grabbing pencils and paper before returning to the table. Quickly scribbling on the paper, he wrote a few sentences and drew some designs before placing the pencil down.

"Okay, let me finish showing you around and I'll start working on it," he said giddily, grasping your hand as he continued forward into his hideout.

Chuckling, you followed him as he guided you through the compound, explaining where the rooms, kitchen, weapons storage, and bathrooms. He had clearly put a lot of effort into renovating this place, especially the defense system that he had installed specifically for the Titans.

"No wonder why they never found out where you hid," you said, admiring the system.

"It's pretty easy to be avoided," Jason sighed, flicking a paperclip off of the console. "The Titans are usually busy with the other villains in the city, but I like to pop in every now and then just to make things interesting."

"You definitely do," you laughed, remembering the night you and Jason met. "It was a pretty interesting time in the tower after that night we met."

"Yeah," he chuckled, "it's the best day of my life."

You lightly punched his shoulder, "You're such a dork."

"A romantic dork, thank you very much," he corrected you with a smirk. "But it's true, it really is."

You couldn't help when your face burned at his confession. Jason was always able to crawl underneath the steel skin you built your whole life, and you could never figure out how. You thought about what type of person you were before you met Jason, a failed government agent that had no connections to anyone or the ability to forge new ones. Your secret would always burst through no matter how many times you buried it deeper and deeper. Team after team, the numerous shunnings made you the person you were. It was why you walked away without question when your membership was terminated by the previous team you were apart of, the team before the Titans.

"Hey, you okay?"

"No," you answered truthfully, still staring at the cement wall. "It's just... whenever I forge a new life, my old one comes back and decimates it into nonexistence."

"The only thing that's important is that you're not your past self," Jason stated, placing a hand on your shoulder. "You've changed a lot since I first met you on the docks, and I'm sure you've changed a lot before I met you."

"Yes, I changed," you agreed, "but that won't erase the pain I feel everytime I think of the people I..."

"You killed," Jason said, finishing your sentence.

You nodded, "One hundred and ninety-nine metahumans, some good and some bad. When I was discovered to be one of the very own people that I was trained to kill... they tried to kill me. I-I almost didn't make it, but sometimes I'm not even sure if I should have."

"(Y/N)," Jason said quietly, pulling you close, "you are a victim in this, don't you see it?"

"How can a victim be a murderer?" you asked, gripping him tightly. "I killed all of those people without question, without any remorse or mercy. I never thought about their families and the repercussions they would face because of my actions."

You buried your face into his chest, holding in your tears as he continued to hold you close.
