XXVIII - Wasted

Nancy's POV

"Nancy.."

"Nancy..."

"Hey, Nancy. Are you ok?" Dabin snapped her fingers on my face which took me back to reality

The kiss was just my fantasy.. but it felt so real

"Uh- D-Da.. Yeonwoo unnie.. W-what are you doing here?" I asked

"What's up with the Yeonwoo unnie? Aren't you supposed to call me Dabin?" she said still smiling at me

She then held my hand and caressed the engagement ring on my finger "I'm here to take you back, Nancy"

I looked at her and almost agreed to her plan, but Daisy's face registered on my mind again

Daisy is happy with Dabin and I don't want to destroy that

"I'm getting married in three days, unnie" I said as I pulled my hand back

"Three days? Are you out of your mind?" anger is evident on her tone

I tried so hard to discreetly swallow a lump on my throat before talking back "This has been planned several months ago"

"You're not happy, Nancy. I could tell"

This woman knows me so well

"If this is just because of your father, I can go talk to him and tell him how you really feel about this f*cking engagement!"

"What are you now? A fortune teller? How could you say I'm not happy, unnie?" I denied

"Talking to my father wouldn't change a thing. I've already made up my mind. I'm marrying Charlie because I want to"

This is really hard for me. I'm not good at lying, but I have to

I just don't want to hurt Daisy

"Is this why you never answered my letters?" she asked

I'm confused. What letters is she talking about?

"Is he the reason why you never came back?" a tear fell on Dabin's cheek.

It hurts to see her hurting

But it hurts more to know that she thinks I forgot about her that easy

When in fact she's the one who moved on so fast

"Yes" I answered firmly

She let out a heavy sigh which I think she has been holding while waiting for me to answer

"Well then my business is done here" she said wiping off her tears

She then hugged me and said "I wish you all the happiness you deserve, Nancy. I guess this is goodbye..."

She let go not looking at me and started to walk away

She opened the door and was about to go when I spoke "Unnie.."

She stopped

"Please take good care of Daisy"

She gave me a confused look "I don't know what you're trying to say.. but sure... Take care of yourself too, Nancy"

You're free now

I felt like I've lost all the energy as I slumped on the floor and cried when she finally left my sight

I just officially lost Dabin
