After the battle against Sasuke in the Valley of the End (in Part 1, NOT Shippuden), Naruto and Sasuke accidentally opened a portal to another world and ended up in different places. After being saved by Katara, a waterbender from the Southern Water...
Naruto was taking a walk around the forest that he and his friends were currently in as nearby him, Momo was chasing a bug. As Momo pursued the bug, he jumped and landed on the ground to see a neatly stacked pile of lychee nuts. As Momo runs toward it Naruto has a brief flash back in his head about a very similar situation...
Flashback: Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura had just became Genin, and now they were doing a Survival Excercise against their new teacher, the mysterious Kakashi Hatake. Naruto had made the mistake of attempting to defeat Kakashi one on one... and despite his best efforts, the beginning ninja could not best his ninja master. The goal was to capture one of two bells from Kakashi's possession, and after Kakashi disappeared from Naruto's sight... he saw it.... Kakashi had dropped a bell.
