Chapter 36

"Everything in a three block radius has been destroyed, except for this slade left it standing for a reason" i heard Robin say faintly
"according to the city master plan this is the original town library but its been abandoned for decades" Cyborg said
"No wonder this place is a dump" BeastBoy said from behind me
"urgh" i mumbled realizing i was laying down near some remains for building, did i seriously pass out again? i groaned again as i tried to sit up the team rushed over to me Robin quickly helped me up
"Jess, are you ok?" Robin asked holding me up
"of course i'm not ok! i freaking passed out again!" i said frustrated shruging off his comforting hand
"fire is your natural krypotanite it makes you weak and will drain your powers if your surrounded by it" Cyborg said while tapping some stuff into his arm computer thing
"yeah Cas don't beat yourself up about it, its not like you tried to pass out" BeastBoy said
"thats not the point. I'm too weak to fight anything" I growled out
"please friend do not engage in the beating of oneself up" StarFire said trying to hug me, i pushed her away
"go on without me i'll just slow you down" I said as i started to run away.

I'm useless! when Trigon rises the whole world with be consumed in flames, and flames + Me = deep shit. ever since i joined this team i've been feeling like the one that can't keep up. Every single one on this team is so talented and special...Raven has all these dark powers and spells and intellegince, Cyborg has all that computery stuff that nobody understands and has a blasting cannon in his arm! BeastBoy can change into anything he wants, Star shes this mighty strong alien girl who can shot starbolts from her eyes! Robin, stupid Robin can do everything right! he doesn't need superpowers to be great, hes just a normal extrodiary human, Mr. Perfect leader hes been through more trama then i have and yet he still is a amazing person and stands up for what is right and nobody can take him down. I wish i was like that. Maybe i should have never joined they don't need me anyways...
Five mintues have passed and i ran all the way to the park i was sitting by the lake skipping rocks into the clear water, what am i doing with my life. This hero bit isn't working out its suppossed to be easy, always do the right thing and take the bad guys down...but its never simple.
"Jess...?" i heard Robin's voice behind me, i just tensed up i didn't say anything i didn't have too, he knows i heard him, "I sent the team into the library, Raven freaked out and left somewhere, they need me, us back soon"
"they need you back, not me" i said still not turning around
"thats not true and you know it, your an important asseset to the team and we all need you to help us"
"i find that hard to believe, you guys have been doing this before you even met me, why do you need me now?"
"argh, don't you get it, before we met you, yeah we were pretty good but now with you were pretty amazing, our team had to evolve sometime and you helped us, you made us great" Robin said putting a hand on my shoulder, i didn't move it away
"you don't understand i always pass out, im always a burden"
"Listen Jess, we have a mission, I'm not going to just leave the team down there alone and keep trying to convince you that we need you, our team, our friends are down there and your not helping by sulking, i care about you i really do you have to know your just an important to the team as any of us, so get up and follow me and thats an order" Robin said sounding angry
"Y-Your right" i said as i stood up
"I always am" He said smirking as we ran back to the library

Soon we were back at the library, the mark of scath was in the front
"woah what did i miss?" i asked
"BeastBoy started poking around and caused the mark of scath to show up, we digged around in the library and then a secret passage was popped up out of nowhere, we walked down and there were a bunch of creepy statues, the room lit up with the mark and ghosts recited a prophecy of some sort, Raven freaked out and ran out, I-I think she was glowing...I tried to follow her but she disapeared, then i called the team and told them i was going after you and to stay put until i return, i didn't want them getting into danger without me" Robin said
"wow...that all happened in 5 minutes" i said

We found the rest of the team huddled near Cyborg watching a holographic video of the ghosts reciting the prophecy
"this is some serious evil stuff even for slade" BeastBoy said, they were all obilvious to out return
"Not slade, whoever hes working for" Robin said as we came down the last of the steps
"lets face it Slade doesn't have the ability to pull this off" I said smirking, "sorry for the freak out..." I said hanging my head
"Friend! you have returned!" StarFire said happily
"the gem shall be his portal, Scathis coming and this gem is how he gets here, if were going to stop him we need to find it and destory it" Robin said pulling the team back to mission at hand while he kicked an opening in the wall
"right this gem is the key" Cyborg said
"Robin where is Raven?" StarFire asked realizing she was gone
"Shes not coming" Robin said, why did she choose now to flee?
we were all standing at the top of yet another stairwell and this one goes on and on and on, it looks never ending its a spiral staircase
"so how far do you think it goes?" Cyborg asked
"only one way to find out" BeastBoy said as he spit down there
"ew" i said as i cringed, Cyborg pulled out this weird hearing signal after a few seconds we finally heard the splat of BeastBoys spit.
"Thats far" Cyborg said
"then we better get started i'm willing to be that gem is down there" Robin said going all comando as he started walking
"Yeah but what else is down there with it?" Cyborg said

It seemed like we've been walking for hours, the team has fallen into a serious silence, Robin was leading the way with me and Cyborg trailing behind, these steps go on forever!
"Sounds like we got company" Robin said up ahead we all looked over the edge to see a huge group of ghost flying right towards us. They started attacking, no words had to be said we instantly starting attacking them. I was tring to dodge the weapons they were pointing at me , i flipped down the steps. "I can't hit them!" Robin yelled
"but they can hit us" Cyborg said
"thanks Captian Obvious!" I yelled as i keep trying to dodge their attacks, how do i fight something i can't hit!
"now is not the time!" Robin yelled, "their transparant, like a cloud thier not solid, but their there, Fight!" He ordered as he was taking a few down.
looks like we can hit them, well kinda evaporate them? but more were just popping up! they had us surrounded
"Get away from us!" I screamed as i smacked half of them with a water whip thing, while Cyborg toke out the rest with his blaster causing to break off some of the stairs, in the comotion I heard Robin yelled follow me and he jumped of the side. For a second we just stared, "Hes crazy, our leader is crazy"
"would you rather stay here to be eaten by ghosts?" BeastBoy said as him and Starfire jumped off
"we can't fly! and i don't have enough air down here to creat solid ice!" I told Cyborg
"uh maybe you didn't get the memo Robin you and I can't fly!" Cyborg yelled over the edge new ghosts started forming
"Just jump!" I yelled, not getting killed by the dead today
"what are you crazy!" Cyborg yelled after me
"Just do it!" I ordered hoping he heard me
It's a long way down and the ghosts just followed us, we were falling through the sky and it seemed like me and Cyborg were the only ones freaked out about it! Robin just kept a level head, Dude soon enough were going to go splat! Randomly Robin pulled out his graveling hook and grabbed my waist and swung us to safty.
"are you insane! Cyborg Can't fly we got crazy Ghost things chasing us and you tell us to Jump?!?!?!" I yelled Star and BeastBoy appeared carrying Cyborg, "oh..." I said lamely
"did you ever really dout me?" Robin said smirking as he pulled open yet another passage way, "this way!" he yelled as we all chased after him down another mysterious hall, the ghosts kept following us! Robin threw an exploding disk and they turned to dust I kept running until i came to a stop by running into BeastBoys back.
"um..which was is the gem?" He asked there were two paths
"follow the mark" Robin ordered wasting no time as we bolted running for more ghosts. Cy, BB, and Star ran ahead leaving me and Robin to fight off the Ghosts, they stopped again
"Theres no mark! What do we do?" BeastBoy asked
"Pick one!" Robin grunted as he wresled with a ghost
"uh..." BeastBoy said confused
"Any day now!" I yelled punching threw a ghost
"Enie, Meanie, Minie, Mo" BeastBoy said picked one of the four tunnels and ran ahead while we delt with the Ghosts, seconds later he came running back, "Not Mo! Not Mo!" while being chased by more ghosts
"This One!" I yelled pointing to the one with the Raven symbol....go figure.
the Door closed on us
"It appears we can not get out" StarFire said
"yeah but atleast those Ghost things didn't follow us in" Cyborg said
"Nice pick" Robin said sarcastily
"Guys you might wanna see this" BeastBoy yelled, as he lead us to a Room with a huge hand and a light, the opening room....
"spoke to soon Rob" i said leaning on him
"im getting a major Dajah Vo vide here" Cyborg said
"Not only that but something about this playce seems really familar" BeastBoy said looking around
"Yes it looks like...Raven" StarFire said examing the statues
"the gem its gone!" Robin said
"you must be disapointed" Slades eeriy voice cut through the silence as he stepped into view
"Slade" I growled out as Robin put his arm infront of me blocking me from attacking, I just stood and Glared
"Not here, but much closer to you then you think" Slade said
"Who is Scath tell me who your working for!" Robin yelled
"I'd Love to introduce you but unfortontlly you won't be around" Slade said stepping towards us
"One step closer and I swear to god Slade your be done for" I said moving out of Robin's grasp
"Ooooo, is this your atempt of threating me?" Slade said tauntinly, "after all fire beats water"
"Argh!" I yelled as i ran towards him getting ready to knock that stupid mask off his face, but he created a fire ball and aimed directly at me
"MOVE!" Robin yelled as i felt a thick wire wrap around my waist and yank me back saving me from the flame and behind and rock with the rest of the team, "what do you think your doing!" Robin yelled in my face
"Fighting!" I yelled back
"nows not the time love birds!" Cyborg yelled as Slade jumped down and sent BB and Cy flying down
"Cyborg BeastBoy!" I yelled getting ready to jump down after them but Robin attached his iron grip to my wrist pulling me back
"take a deep breath, you freaking out!" Robin said pulling me towards him, when the dust cleared Cyborg was there holding BeastBoy
"Now titans your only delaying the inetiable" Slade said
"were not leaving without that gem" Robin said lunging at slade
"you don't understand your not leaving at all"
"Don't be so sure" I said
"Tough words for someone so desperetly hiding the truth" Slade said gaining on me
"Enough!" I yelled as i charged at him and kicked him right in the gut

The fighing happened so fast, before i knew it i was being slamed into a wall and being pushed agaisnt Robin and he came crashing down too, Slade was shoting fire at StarFire while she attacked the best she could with starbolts, but even she went down, BB came crashing down on Cyborg, Robin got up and went for another attack, I started going in for another punch, when a huge wall of flames blocked my path, and Robin came flying towards me once again.
"you know i accually like working for someone else, i lets me work a little more hands on" Slade said as he aimed another fireball, this can't be the end. I waited for the impact of flame for the intense heat, but it never came instead Slade tied us all up
"stuggling only makes it wrose" Slade said as he tightened his grip on the ropes holding us, " and how i'd hate to see you suffer, this won't hurt a bit" now for real aimed the final blow, i closed me eyes, again it never came
"Wanna Bet?" Said a familar raspy voice, Raven
