"Arjun!"
Tia entered their bedroom calling out for him but stopped seeing Tej asleep on the bed, protected by pillows from all sides and smiled. She went ahead and planted a kiss on his forehead before proceeding towards the balcony.
Arjun was sitting on the sofa, staring up at the sky with a smile.
"Arjun?" She sat beside him and kept a hand on his shoulder.
He smiled and looked down at her.
"Main kabse tumhe bula rahi hu. Kaha khoye huye ho tum?"
He took her hands in his and gently rubbed the back of her hand with his fingers.
"14 saal pehle.... Jab Tejaswini jane wali thi... Ussdin, aisi hi kisi raat ko, isi jagah pe, aise hi aap hume dhundte huye ayi thi...."
"Arjun! Arjun, tum kaha ho?"
14-years-old Tejaswini ran into this same bedroom and spotted the 17-years-old Arjun sitting in the balcony.
"Arjun, main tumhe kabse dhund rahi hu," she sat beside him.
"Haan, yaad hain mujhe," Tia smiled reminiscing the incident.
He turned his back on her and crossed his arms, "Tejaswini, aap yaha kyun ayi hain? Chali jaiye yaha se! Hume aapse baat nehi karni," he was very angry.
"Arjun, main to jane hi wali hu. Tumse mile bina kaise chali jau?"
"Agar humari itni parwa hoti to aap nehi jati..."
Tears were threatening to roll down her eyes. Looking down, she sniffed a little to stop them. Hearing her sniff, he spun around immediately.
"Tejaswini! Aap...aap roo kyun rahi hain?" He panicked seeing her cry. "Aap rooiye matt, nehi to Meera-Maa humse naraz hojayengi," he wiped her tears.
"Mummy-ji?" She looked up at the mention of her deceased mother.
"Haan. Vo dekhiye," he pointed at the two adjacent stars in the clear sky. "Vo rahi aapki Mummy-ji aur vo rahi humari Maa-sa. Dono hume dekh rahi hain."
She got up and stared at those twinkling stars in awe.
"Agar Meera-Maa ne aapko roote huye dekhlia to unnhe lagega ki hum apka khayal nehi rakh rahe. Aur vo humse naraz hojayengi," he too joined her by the railings.
She wiped her tears and turned to her left to him, "Vo hume sach mein dekh sakti hain?" she asked innocently.
He nodded, "Dekhiye. Vo dono bohot achchhe dost the, iss liye ab bhi saath hain. Hum bhi unnki tarha achchhe dost hain na?" He continued after she nodded, "Toh humse ek wada kijiye... Wada kijiye ki hum humesha aapke sabse achchhe dost rahenge aur unn dono ki tarha hum bhi humesha saath rahenge," he stretched out an arm to her.
