SHE COULD not remember how tonight ended up like this—

sweaty bodies danced up against her and the loud booming of rap music filled her brain with hazy thoughts

she didn't even drink alcohol or intake drugs like the other kids were doing

the hype outside was enough for her to get intoxicated

and she loved it.

she was so glad her mother left hours ago; she was also thankful for ruby's mother gaining her mother's trust enough to let kimberly stay with them at the party

oh ruby

ruby mccann was the first person to approach her when kim stood alone in the mist of the wild street party, bluntly greeting with:

"you're fucking hot"

they never left each other's side since.

the two teens and some of ruby's friends left the block party to go inside to ruby's place to have their own little get together

ruby turned on the lights and started to play loud music from her stereo before inviting them all into the livingroom to crash

ruby and her friends all got high off something that coated the room with a lavender smell; nobody pushed kimberly to smoke and it made her happy that they respected her

jace, ruby's european-native boyfriend who stood at 6'2 suggested that they play twister

ruby, kim and the other girls, youth and deliah, practically squealed in excitement while the other boys groaned in annoyance before cussing jace out

but about five minutes into the game it was clear as hell that the boys were having more fun than all the girls combined—

mike got an upfront view of youth's ass, deliah and franklin got so close to each other's faces that they just gave up their spots to start making out on the couch, and jace got a view of his girlfriend's chest and would not stop staring as he was positioned underneath her — kim watched, laughing at all of them as she flicked the arrowhand, being the host of the game

halfway into the game all the couples just started to feel up on each other and it made kim cold

she sat on the floor as the couples went on the couch or into another room to kiss and shit. she sat there thinking,

a lot of boys flirted with me tonight

she didn't know half of their names and most of them were ruby's acquaintances

they winked, purposely made their voices get lower to seem more attractive, touched her longingly and other stuff she couldn't remember at the moment—but none of them made a lasting impression

in fact while talking to each of them, the only person she could think of was—

"kim?"

kim's eyes snapped up before she locked them with ruby

"sorry i brought you along with a group of couples" kim interrupted her with a kind smile

"it's fine i wasn't really in the party mood anyways" kim got up off the floor and dusted her dress off before examining ruby's tousled braids and clothes and her ruined lipstick "seems like you aren't either" kim giggled as she watched ruby's lightskin cheeks turn a pinkish color

"well i was before, i think that new weed i got had ecstasy or some shit laced with it" ruby gives kim one last hug before she let kim go

as kim made her way to ruby's front door her mission was to get home as fast as possible but when she actually got outside she was faced with a large crowd of bodies still dancing to the loud music on the street

do these people ever go to sleep?

kim soon found herself squeezing through the crowd; bumping into body after body after body—she stopped to take a breather because it was getting exhausting after a while; she straightened when she felt a tap on her shoulder

she turned around to face a handsome black boy with dark brown orbs and a breathtaking, female-trapping smile

her eyebrows furrowed immediately because she felt like she knew him somewhere

"you go to eastview right?" was the first thing he said

kim nods before the boy smiles at her smugly

"we totally would've kicked your boy and girls' soccer teams' asses if you guys hadn't cheated"

and the conversation escalated from there; he had kim screaming louder than the music, which frankly, was impossible because nobody could barely hear themselves, but she was a close second

after their argument and him playfully pretending to comply and say that eastview didn't cheat them at the soccer games, he convinced her to dance with him

they jumped to the music with everyone and kim finally felt like she was enjoying herself

she was too oblivious to notice him stare from her bedroom window

in longing, in thought ~

he needed her to make him whole again, and fast

he didn't like watching her dance with anyone, he wanted to hold her hand and whisper sweet nothings into her ear and just touch her

but for now he'd let her enjoy herself and wait for the night to pass

for good things come to those who wait
