Later that night, I got ready for the game. I didn't have any school spirit clothes so I just wore blue jeans and a white hoodie.

"Just drop me off at the entrance," I said to my mom, "I see Jane waiting for me."

"Okay have fun, what time should I come pick you up?"

"David will take me home after."

"You've been spending a lot of time with him lately."

"Yeah well he is our neighbor," I chuckled, "and he's been a good friend to me."

She raised an eyebrow, "are you sure he's just a friend?"

I rolled my eyes, "yes mom, bye."

"Bye sweetie, have fun!"

I slammed the door and walked over to Jane.

We bought our tickets and went inside. We found some empty space in the upper section of the bleachers. As we made our way up, I saw David's mom.

"That's my neighbor," I said to Jane, "I'm just going to say 'hi'."

"Okay cool."

She noticed me as soon as I started walking towards her.

"Hi honey! David was really excited that you'd be coming tonight."

I couldn't help but to blush. I was really starting to like him. But, I wasn't sure if he even liked me back.

"It's so nice to see you, I can't wait to see David play."

"Oh me too! He's really good. Well, I see you're with a friend so go ahead and have fun!"

"You too!" I said and I walked back to Jane.

We found seats just in time for the game to start.

The football team came out to the field, but I didn't see David anywhere.

Just then, the marching band came out. I looked at all the band geeks when I noticed one of the drummers looked exactly like David... it WAS David! I couldn't believe my eyes. I thought he was a football player but he was really in the marching band.

I just burst out laughing.

"What's so funny?" Jane asked.

"Oh nothing."

We watched the game until halftime when the band played. Afterwards, the football game kept going and the band was standing in the bleachers.

"I'm going to go to the bathroom, be right back," I said.

I went down the bleachers and off on the pavement. But instead of going to the restrooms, I went underneath the bleachers and found David's seat.

I called out his name until he looked under.

"Oh hey Alina, so how did you like my show?"

"You could've had me fooled!" I yelled playfully, "I thought you played football, not the drums."

He laughed, "I swear I didn't mean to, I thought you knew I was a band nerd."

"No, I didn't," I said.

"Well, it looks like we have to get to know each other better," he said, "find me after the game, my mom can take you home."

"Sounds good," I said, "I'll see you later!"

I went back up next to Jane and we enjoyed the rest of the game since Kennedy High School won!
