The New Girl

Chapter 9

I stepped out of the shower with water dripping onto the tiled floor. My phone vibrated. I looked and it was a text from David.

David: I had so much fun today :) <3

Alina: So did I! <3

David: what's up?

Alina: just got out of the shower :)

David: oh? I wish I could've joined :P

I had to set my phone down for a minute. I could feel my face getting flustered. I dried my hair a little bit and put on my pajamas.

Alina: too late now :P

David: I bet your body is really sexy...

Alina: well thank you :P

David: can I see..?

I put my phone down again, so I could recollect myself.

Alina: see what?

David: a picture of you... in a bikini

I scrolled through my phone to the summer and found a picture of me in a bikini when I went to the Dominican Republic over the summer. I hit send and then lightly tossed my phone on my bed. I wasn't ready to see his reply yet. I decided to moisturize and brush my hair.

David: wow, you're absolutely beautiful

Alina: thank you :)

David: seriously.. I'd tap that ;)

Alina: oh?

David: seriously though... what's the farthest you've gone with a guy

Alina: third base.

David: oh yeah? ;) what does that mean

Alina: I'm tired and don't want to talk about this right now, goodnight

David: goodnight...

I put my phone away for the night. The thought of talking about my past experiences gave me major anxiety.

David looked at me and asked "Are you Alright?"

"Yeah," I replied, "why wouldn't I be?"

"I don't know.. you went to bed pretty early last night."

"Sorry, I wasn't feeling so good," I said.

"It's okay, I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable."

"It's okay."

We listened to "You Don't Own Me" until we arrived. Before I could open the door, David grabbed my hand.

"Hey, if you ever need anything during school, please let me know and I will come see you. I know our schedules are opposite and we don't get to see each other much at school but I just want you to know that I'm here."

I smiled, "thank you, that really means a lot."

I felt more safe now that he said that.

For once, instead of doing assignments or listening to a lecture, we watched a movie in health class. Drake texted me for some reason, even though he was sitting right next to me.

Drake: we're watching Netflix but too bad we aren't alone

Alina: ?

Drake: Netflix and chill lol

Alina: what about it

Drake: wanna Netflix and chill sometime?

Alina: what do you mean by chill exactly?
