"Wait, that's my girlfriend, I need to talk to her!" David yelled.

"You have a right to remain silent," he said.

They took him away while I sobbed. I called up an Uber to take me home. I went up to David's door and rang the doorbell.

"Alina? What's going on?" asked Darcy.

"I had to take an Uber home because David was just arrested," I explained.

"Oh gosh! Okay, let's go to the police station, would you like to come with me?"

"Yes," I said and I got into her car. The last time I was here was when she took me home after the football game.

When we got to the police station, Darcy asked about her son at the front desk.

"It looks like they've taken him to the county jail," said the officer at the front desk.

"Thank you," she said and we went back to the car.

"I don't know what's going on with him," she said, finally breaking the silence in the car.

"I'm just as confused as you are," I said.

When we got there, they allowed us to talk to him. I had some time with him while Darcy talked to the officers.

"David, what the hell?"

"I did what I had to do, Alina."

"You didn't have to do anything," I said.

"I'm barely making money at the restaurant, I needed to make extra cash."

"So what? You sell drugs?"

"Marijuana is barely a drug, but you wouldn't know because you're too pussy to try it."

"Fuck you, and guess what? The tests are negative, I'm not pregnant."

"Good, I bet you're happy now that you're not having a kid with a criminal."

"Yeah, I am happy actually," I said, ironically with tears in my eyes.

"Good, have a nice life then."

I got up and stormed out of there and went into the bathroom to cry. Just then my period started, so the pregnancy test was all for nothing.

I left the bathroom and waited for Darcy. I was confused when she didn't come out with David.

"What about David?" I asked.

"I'm going to have to bail him out tomorrow, but he'll be going to court this week."

I didn't say anything. I was hoping he would just stay locked up in jail, I didn't want anything to do with him anymore.

Towards the end of the week, I got a text message.

David: I'm sorry

Alina: okay...

David: my mom bailed me out Sunday and I went to court today... I'm on probation for the next year.
