Finally meeting again

A couple years had gone by, Shuri and Steve were now the ones to take care of you until your father was better again. You were only allowed to go to the lab with her once a week to see Bucky, though he specifically asked not to let him out of cryo until Hydra was out of his head, which led to you playing by his tube while he was still in his frozen state.

Steve would teach you as much as possible about your father, hoping you wouldn't forget him. There was only so much he could tell a three year old though. All that had translated to you was that some bad people had been controlling his mind for years, and Shuri had to figure out how to break their control. He didn't want you to think he was bad, he wanted you to know he was a hero, and the hero that rescued you as an infant.

"Good morning darling, how did you sleep?" Shuri asked you sweetly, brushing your hair out of your face as you began to wake up.

"Okay... I guess." You answered, stretching, accidentally knocking a few books that Steve had given you out of your bed. "Oops."

"Were you looking at old pictures of your father again?" She asked, smiling as she picked them up and placed them on your night stand.

"Yeah... how come I'm not in any of them?" You asked curiously, slightly upset.

"Because he only found you about three years ago, those pictures are from about seventy years ago." Steve spoke up from the doorway, stepping into your room and sitting on the end of the bed, smiling when you sat up right, yawning once more. "Are you ready to finally see him again today?"

"What if he doesn't remember me?"

"Why wouldn't he remember you?" Shuri asked curiously.

"What if I'm a bad memory?"

"I promise, you're not." Steve assured you.

"Can I go with you guys?" You asked sweetly.

"I'm sorry sweetie, only me, T'Challa, and Shuri can be in the lab when we wake him up. It's just to be safe, but we will bring him in here as soon as we can." Steve responded, not wanting to go into detail that might scare you.

"Okay." You sighed, looking at your tiny hands as they lay in your lap.

"We will be back in about an hour, alright? Why don't you put on one of your pretty outfits and play with some of your toys while you wait?" Shuri suggested, smiling when she saw your face light up a bit as you went to go pick an outfit. "We will see you in a bit."

Hours had gone by, and still no one had shown up to bring you to your father. You were beginning to lose hope that he even remembered you, but just as that hope was about to run out, the door to your room opened.

"Y/n... are you in here?" You heard a familiar voice from the doorway. When you turned around you finally saw him awake. "Is it really you baby doll?" He asked softly.

"Daddy?" You asked quietly, slowly standing up and inching closer to him.

"Oh my god, it is, it's really you." He whispered to himself, eyes watering with joy. He wasted no time in rushing toward you now and picking you up with his one arm, holding you close to him and not wanting to let go. "I missed you so much baby doll, I'm sorry I had to go like that, but I'm back now. I promise."

"I missed you so much daddy." You told him, tearing up at the new emotions you were feeling. "I love you."

"I love you too y/n."

Discovery

After Bucky had finally been mostly stable for about a year, it was finally time for the two of you to live outside of T'Challa's home and build your own outside of the city. The piece of land saved for this moment was perfect for the two of you. Lots of room for you to play, peaceful and quiet for Bucky to continue to gain his inner peace, and a beautiful view by the river.

The building was going as well as it could for a one armed man and his four year old daughter. T'Challa and Shuri were on there way with a few other people to help the two of you build your home before night came.

"Hey baby doll, can you hand me that hammer?" Bucky asked you as he held up one of the beams.

"Okay!" You chirped, rushing to the tool box to grab what he asked for, only to turn around to see him fall, the beam starting to fall as well. "Daddy! Look out!" You yelled, pushing your hands forward, not knowing what else to do, but noticing an odd glow around the parts of the house that were about to fall on your father.

"Bucky, Y/n! We brought some help-" Shuri spoke, but was cut off when she noticed the new home crumbling. "Oh my god!" She shrieked, running toward the home followed by T'Challa and everyone else that came to help. "Y/n?" She whispered, not believing what she was seeing.

"Y/n... is this you?" Bucky asked, looking at you and then looking back at everything floating above him, covered in a bright glowing mist.

"W-what's happening?" You asked, shaking a bit as you looked around, watching your father as he got up and walked over to you, carrying you out of the house.

"I think you have powers baby doll." He told you, smiling as he brushed your hair behind your ear.

"Powers? How?" You asked, looking at your small hands, wondering what you were actually capable of.

"I guess you're just gifted, even more gifted than I thought when I found you." He told you with a smile, kissing your forehead before ruffling up your hair.

"If the two of you come to the lab tomorrow, we can learn more about your powers." Shuri told you and Bucky sweetly, but excitedly, just wanting to study this incredible phenomenon.

"While we're there, can we maybe think up a new arm? It's a little hard parenting with just one." Bucky told her, shrugging when she laughed a bit.

"Of course we can, I'll even have y/n help me personalize it for you." She spoke, tickling you in the process.
