//I'm half asleep, I literally can't keep my eyes open, I'm responsible I swear, but I really wanna get this published so eh\\

The waves splashed gently on the rocks, the moonlight illuminating the water. Accentuating the curves of the waves. She reached her hand down, her body laying on the rocks, hovering her palm above the surface, a hand comes out of the water gently pressing it's palm to hers. She doesn't jerk back in fear, doesn't pull back her hand, doesn't show any signs of surprise.
The sound of the waves are broken by the gentle splash of something breaking the surface, a boy's face comes up from under the water. Scales covering part of his face. His hand grabs the edge of the rock and he pulls himself up onto the rocks. The skin at his waist fades into scales, the deepest shade of blue, mixed with red. They shimmer like gems in the light. A tail replacing his legs, it fans out and drips water back into the sea. Strong and powerful. His face beams at the girl and she smiles back, holding up a tiny box. Urging him to open it. His gentle fingers take it and untie the ribbon, lifting the lid to reveal a tiny seed.
She laughs at his confused face and tells him it's a water cactus that only grows under water. He closes his hand around it and dives into the water, leaving her to scramble to the edge, looking for him. He comes back a few minutes later, saying it's planted. She doesn't answer and flings her arms around him. His tail creates currents in the clear water. The moonlight deepening the curves and lines of his face, making his eyes almost glow. Her legs move in rhythm with his tail, adding to the current, even if it's small. She rests her hand on the side of his face, smiling like a child, she mutters some words and then he's dragging her under. Pulling her deeper and deeper, seaweed flying past and schools of fish scattering. Coral reefs with bright colours turning to a blur. Her hand in his and his eyes focused ahead. The rest of the sea a blur, it felt like only them. And that's all that mattered.
But then he stopped swimming. Turning to her, his tail keeping them from sinking, he knew her lungs couldn't keep her down here much longer. He picks up a piece of coral and shows it to her, a small fish hiding in the layers. Down here, everything is blue and calm, they're alone. She's alone with her merman, her mersam. But her lungs start aching and as much as she wants to become a mermaid he couldn't keep her down here. His tail starts to lash again, beating the water and pushing them upwards. The watery moon growing closer.
The rocks once again dig into her skin, cold air filling her lungs and his face dripping water. Her hand curled around the coral, she kisses him once and he slips back down into the depths.
Leaving her alone with only the sound of waves keeping her company. Until tomorrow then.
