Chapter Ten: Slumper Party

(The chapter is called Slumper Party for a reason, it's not a typo)

It's been a week since we got all those comments, and during that week was the worst day of my life.

No, really.

I'm not in some stupid fight with Coco or Piper or Aaliyah or Cassie.

Nope.

And I'm not exaggerating when I say this.

I don't have any fans anymore.

Nope. I spent hours scrolling through our latest daily vlog on YouTube, and there's not ONE nice comment.

Not even an AOTD.

Well, one, but it wasn't nice.

User: okay, what???? the WHOLE vlog was JUST THEM TALKING!!?

AOTD: umm make Bratayley end or at least post a video once every 10 years

User: okay look at this-

Hayley: hey guys so we're going to have some chipotle with Aali and Lei-Lei

Aaliyah: yeah we are.

*goes and eats lunch w/o vlogging*

Hayley: mm that was good, okay guys so yeah..

I frown. We couldn't vlog because Daddy had the camera and our phones were dead! Mom gave up on trying to comment or film us telling our fans what really happened, it's no use.

It's the same on Instagram, Twitter, you name it. Everyone's hating on us.

I call an emergency sleepover with Aaliyah, Leia, Piper, Cassie, Symphony, Coco, Sophie (I haven't seen her in sooo long, she couldn't make it to the gender reveal party), and Txunamy. So yeah, I'm pretty excited about that!

I get out some M&Ms, potato chips, Doritos, Chips Ahoy, popcorn, and strawberries. We're going to watch Aladdin, play 3 up (like 7 up, we don't have enough people), and play more games. And probably more things too.

Soon they're all here, and we watch Aladdin and eat the snacks.

"So! You guys wanna play a game?" I ask once the movie's done.

"Sure!" Everyone says.

"How do you play?" Asks Cassie.

"Okay, so we would sit in a random circle." Everyone does, and then I continue. "Next, we would open our group chat. Then, starting with me, we would each chat just one word—one word—to make a story."

"Sounds fun," says Aaliyah. "I'm in."

"Me too!" Says Coco.

I smile. "Okay, let's go."

ME: old

Cassie: bar

fergi: chocolate 🍫

ME: end 👏🏼

Everyone looks up. "Haha, that was fun," I say.

"Wanna play 3 up?" Asks Leia.

"Sure!"

So me, Leia, and Cassie are up and everyone has their thumbs up. I lightly tap Coco's thumb while Cassie does Txunamy and Leia does Aaliyah.

"Heads up, 3 up!"

Coco, Txunamy, and Aaliyah stand up.

"Okay, Txunamy first."

"Umm, Hayley?"

"Nope!"

"Okay, Coco guess," says Leia.

"You," she guesses.

Leia shakes her head.

"Aaliyah?"

"Leia," she says.

"Yeah!"

We play a few more rounds until we get bored. We watch YouTube for a bit and then go to sleep at 12:47pm.

The next morning, one by one, everyone goes home. Cassie is last to go.

As soon as the door closes, Mom pulls me over. "Hayley, urgent family meeting. Right now."

I'm scared, feeling like bad news is coming.

We sit on the couch and Mom says, "Billy, you wanna say it?"

My dad clears his throat and cuts to the chase. "We're thinking of quitting Bratayley."

The words hit me like sharp razors. No, no, no. We've been vlogging almost all my life! No! NO!!

"You're probably gonna follow into Annie's footsteps and pursue a career in acting and singing, we thought that's how we would make money from now on."

Suddenly, I understood.

"Okay," I whisper faintly.

Mom sees through me and hugs me. "Oh honey, it's gonna be okay."

And that's when I start crying.
