(A/N: I don't know if Maeve is underage or whatever but just in case, I wanna make this a platonic thing. And the reader is 16-years-old in this.)

~No One's POV~

You were walking back home from your dinner with a couple of friends. Today has been a good day for you since your boss just told you that you got a raise and you had an amazing dinner with your friends.

It was raining a bit hard but you didn't mind. You grew up with a lot of rain in your area so it just brought you memories. You held your umbrella tightly while you listened to music through one of your Airpods. (A/N: I'm making you little fuckers those rich ppl who have Airpods)

The rain splattered hard against the top of your umbrella. You walk past an alleyway when you saw something out of the corner of your eye. You looked into the alleyway but whatever you saw, wasn't there anymore. "What the.." You softly muttered to yourself.

Of course, being the smart person you were, you weren't going to step into the dark and haunting alleyway in the middle of the goddamn night like those stupid people in horror movies. You decided to keep walking but then you heard a clatter of metal cans, making you jump. "That's it, I am not getting stabbed by some goddamn serial killer." You said and clenched onto your umbrella.

You then heard a soft meow that echoed through the alleyway. You turned your head back towards the alleyway. Whatever it was, it kept on meowing. You slowly walked back to the opening of the alleyway and pulled out your phone then used the flashlight in your phone to look.

You didn't see anything out of the ordinary, just trash and several tipped over metal trash cans. Before you walked away, something bright caught your eye. A light pink tail peeking out of a soaked cardboard box. It wasn't too deep into the alleyway luckily so all you needed to do was take several steps in.

You carefully removed the box to reveal a small light pink kitten that was meowing constantly. It must have tipped over all that stuff then the box must have fallen on top of it. The kitten looked up at you with its icy blue eyes before meowing again to show its sharp little fangs. You couldn't help but awe at how cute the kitten looked.

"Hey, little one, what are you doing here?" You whispered softly and gently placed your hand in front of the kitten to show that you weren't a threat. The kitten sniffed then nudged your hand with its head before purring against it.

The kitten was soaked from the rain and was probably freezing to death. You live alone in your small comfortable house so having a pet around wouldn't be that bad. You lived by yourself since you were 15 since your parents were always out of the country and you didn't have any other relatives. You carefully picked up the kitten and saw that it didn't have a collar on.

The kitten fell asleep in your arms as you walked back home with it. Once you got back home, you dried it off then gave it some warm milk along with some homemade food for it by chopping up some white chicken you cooked last night.

It was almost 3 am when you finally got to bed. Luckily, you didn't have work the next day so you didn't have anything to worry about. You sighed and curled up in bed. You heard a soft meow then the kitten jumped onto your bed. It crawled under the blanket and nuzzled against your chest for warmth. You giggled at how cuddly the kitten was and gently stroked its back until you both fell asleep.

You woke up to the sunlight peeking into your room. You yawned and stretched in your bed. You felt a loud purr against your chest, louder than what a normal kitten would make. Then you realized how much warmer it suddenly felt. You froze up then you slowly glance down to see a girl with cat ears and tail, curled up against you. You quickly looked away when you realize she didn't have clothes on. "Who the hell is this?!" You whispered to yourself.

Was this the kitten you took in yesterday?! It couldn't have been! You weren't drunk or anything yesterday! So how did the small pink kitten turn into some girl?! The girl must have felt your body move around because she slowly woke up and nuzzled closer to you. "Stop moving around so much," She muttered.

"I-I'm sorry but who are you?" You stuttered, looking down at her. She looks up at you with the same icy blue eyes that the kitten gave you last night. Yep, she's the kitten. "You took me in last night. Don't you remember?" She said, rubbing her eyes. "No, because I took in a cat last night, not a person." You said. She pouted as her cat ears flatten against her head, "Do you want me to leave then?"

You had to admit, you didn't want her to leave. You always felt so lonely when you're at home. Your friends were always busy too so you were mostly at home Netflix binging. The girl seemed harmless and even if she was dangerous, she didn't had any intentions on hurting you, at least you in general.

"You can stay, but there are some ground rules." You told her. She grinned and nodded then hugged you even tighter. "Oh thank you so much!" She said happily, her cat tail swishing around. You cleared your throat as you blushed. "It's nothing but please let me go. It's a bit awkward for you to hug me while you're naked." You said. She lets go of you and you went to your drawer to pull out a fresh pair of clothes. You told her to put it on while you turned around.

Once she was done, she tapped your shoulder and you looked at the girl. The clothes were a bit big on her since you were a few inches taller but nonetheless, it still fits.

"Okay, rule one. You cannot break anything on purpose. You're a cat so I have a feeling you might want to knock a bunch of crap over. Rule two. You're going to have to go outside eventually but you're not allowed to go outside without me. Rule three. When we do go outside, you'll have to hide cat ears and tail because we don't have those and people will think you're weird. Rule four. Do not scratch my couch. Got it?" You explained.

"Don't worry, I don't do most of those things already. And I'll make sure to only go outside when you're around." She replied. She was bouncing up and down with excitement, probably because she now had a home to stay in. "Didn't you use to have a home?" I asked. "Yes but the person who took me in thought I was a kitten but when I transformed into a girl, they told me to leave." She frowned.

You can't help but pity how many homes she must have been through just to get to yours. She must have been kicked out so many times since she looked around your age. "Well, you're welcome to stay as long as you like. I wouldn't mind the company anyways." You said. Her blue eyes shine brightly as she hugged you tightly again, purring against you.

"Wait, we should give you a name if you don't have one yet." You said. "I'm Maeve," She said. You nodded and smiled, "Alright Maeve. I guess you're my new roommate now."

Let's just say that ever since Maeve started living with you, your life has gotten brighter. You went outside more and you actually enjoyed coming home now since someone was always there to greet you. Somehow, the people you didn't like at work or the people who made fun of you suddenly disappeared. You didn't know why but they just suddenly disappeared without a trace. You didn't question it though because whenever you talked about how weird it was, Maeve would only change the subject and start purring up against you while cuddling you. You didn't mind though but something told you that Maeve had to do something with their disappearances.
