~No One's POV~

You were quietly walking back home, your hands stuffed in your pockets while music blasted through your earplugs. You been to zone out as you walk, not paying attention to your surroundings.

Over the past months, you pushed away any thoughts of Maya that would invade your mind, telling yourself that you needed to stop thinking about something that would never happen. You did everything you could, you even stopped listening to Pasupare because every time you heard Maya's voice, it made your heart ache.

You suddenly was snapped out of your trance when you heard someone running up to you from behind. You glanced over your shoulder to see Maya running over to you. You feel your heart race and your body heat up.

You quickly turned back around and kept on walking but Maya grabbed your wrist before you could go any further. The touch of her soft hand made your cheeks grow hotter and your palms sweaty.

"Wait, don't go yet.. I want to talk to you. Please.." her voice was timid and soft as her eyes stayed glued to the ground.

You swallowed hard, unable to look at her. It's been the first time in months since you two have spoken with one another and you couldn't help but feel the tension hanging in the air. "I have to get home, Maya. My mom will be worried." You said, trying to make up any excuse to get away from her. You couldn't face Maya, not after how you've pushed her away and despite of your efforts, your feelings were still there for her.

Maya's grip doesn't loosen around your wrist and instead gets tighter. "Please (Y/N), give me a chance," she said, her voice was shaky and it sounded like she was on the brink of tears "I just need a minute."

You feel a piece of your heart shatter when you heard her angelic voice sound so broken. You sighed and turned around to face her, nodding. "Okay but only a minute."

Maya's face looked relieved when you said that and lets go of your wrist. "(Y/N), I don't know what I did to chase you away but I'm so sorry. I miss having you around and since you left, it felt like I was missing a part of myself. Whatever I did to make you mad, I'm really sorry. I know I'm not the best option to be friends with and I'm not worthy but please, I just want another chance to be your friend." Maya trembled, in fear that you might leave after her confession.

You frowned as you gently grasped her shoulders. "Is that how you felt? Maya, you're worth it. You're such an amazing person and anyone would be lucky to be friends with you. Please don't look down on yourself. If anything, I'm not worthy enough for you. You're Maya Yamato and I'm just me. You didn't drive me away or anything like that." You addressed.

She relaxed slightly but continued to keep her gaze on the floor. "Then why did you stop hanging out with me?" She asked.

You froze up, unable to answer her. "I don't want to talk about it," You said, letting go of her shoulders.

"You can't just dismiss it, (Y/N). I need to know what happened. You can't just leave me in the dark." She insists, finally looking up at you with tears forming in her green eyes. "I have to know, (Y/N)."

"I like you okay?! I...I really like you. I like you as more than a friend. That's why I've been avoiding you because I didn't want it to be awkward between us." You rushed out, looking down in shame. How were you supposed to face her now? She probably got freaked out by the fact you like her. "I'm sorry. I don't expect you to like me back or anything." You reassured.

You expected Maya to walk away but instead, she pulls you into a hug, burying her face into your shoulder.

"You idiot... You should have told me. I think I like you too. As more than just a friend." She mumbled into your shirt but it was clear enough for you to hear.

Your eyes widened with surprise before laughing a bit in relief and hugging her back tightly. "Thank god.. I thought I was actually going to lose you for good."

"Of course not, (Y/N). Even if I didn't like you, you're still my best friend and I would still want you around. No matter what happens, we're still best friends." She said as she pulled away to smile up at you. "But why did you think I was going to reject you?"

"I didn't really know if you liked girls or not and the fact that, you said you would never be able to date a fan." You replied.

"(Y/N), you're not some fan to me. You're way more than that. You're so important to me and I don't know what I would do if we actually stopped talking forever." She giggled, making you blush slightly and smile.

"I'm glad you feel the same way. I missed having you around too, Maya." You take her hand and give it a squeeze, making Maya blush and look away.

"How about I walk you home and we can catch up on lost times?" She suggested which you happily agreed.

The both of you linked your pinky fingers together as you headed back to your place, chatting about the things you guys did and where you wanted to take her on your first date.
