A Twist

Y/n's Pov

     As we walked out the door I made sure to lock it. After today's events I really didn't want another walk in robber. Eddie was petting Hercules who was loving the attention. I couldn't help but giggle. My side was still hurting but I didn't want to show I was in pain. A little cut like this isn't something to complain about after all.

     "So how far down the street is this market hmm?" Eddie asked as we walked. I held on to Hercules' leash tighter as I thought.

     "We just have to make a right on the end of the street and we will be there!" I replied excited to make something besides ramen noodles for once. He nodded with a big grin on his face. I couldn't help but blush slightly at that. "Thank you for helping me out today Eddie."

Eddie's Pov.

      "I really don't know what I would have done if you and V weren't with me when I came home," Y/n added as we walked. "I mean hell I got stabbed and instead of freaking out like most guys would you scared off the robber. Then proceeded to grab a hoodie for me and drive me to the hospital. I really just can't thank you enough Eddie." I couldn't help but blush as she said my name. Her voice was just so nice.

I bet you would like her to say more than just your name wouldn't you Eddie.

      "V for fucks sake. Sorry V uh saw a cat and he is really weird about cats. And it was no problem really Y/n. I hate to see someone in pain. And besides just from what I've seen today you probably would have done the same for me," she chuckled as I rambled. Her smile was very very cute. She kept walking and Hercules trotted along wagging his tail. As we got to the corner I felt like this area looked familiar. Like I had went down this street before. Maybe I had drove down it after a long day at work. We walked into the small shop and I realized where we were.

     "Hey Mrs. Chen! Got any good ground beef in the back? I making my friend here some cheeseburgers!" She explained. Mrs. Chen smiles at us.

     "Oh hello Eddie. How do you two know each other?" She asked looking at me as she walked around the counter to give Hercules a treat. Y/n looked at me as I looked around. There was no one in sight, so V slithered out looking at her.

     "Oh we are partners...work partners yep that's what I meant we work together," I rambled rubbing the back of my neck. V grumbled something about being lame as Mrs. Chen chuckled. She then walked to the back of the store to get some ground beef.

     "How do you know Mrs. Chen? And why is Venom out?" Y/n asked me slightly confused. I noticed she tilts her head slightly when asking a question. I chuckled.

     "I live just down the block from here. Plus I do my grocery shopping here too. And Venom may have scared off a robber here before," I replied as V nodded.

"Here you go Y/n! Some nice ground beef. I put in some extra because those two eat a whole lot" Mrs. Chen teased. My face flushed as Y/n giggled from both embarrassment and from how cute her laugh was. She handed me Hercules' leash and grabbed a few more items before checking out. "Have a good night you two."

"Thanks Mrs. Chen. You too!" I replied as we walked out the door. I carried the bag of food as we walked back to Y/n's apartment. This time there were no surprises. She let out a sigh of relief. She had been through a lot today so it was understandable. I don't know how she does it at this point.

     "My cheeseburgers have a slight twist to them so I want you to stay in here while I make them. Got it," she was grinning from ear to ear as she spoke. I just chuckled and nodded before sitting down on the couch with the mass that is Hercules. He was so very fluffy and the first dog to not freak out around me in ages. Naturally I took advantage of this and sat there the entire time just petting the dog and praising him. However at one point he must have smelt the beef and got up to try and get some for himself. It smelt amazing just from the couch. Venom growled hungrily in our head. "Okay...they're done," I heard Y/n announce. She sounding like she was out of breath for some reason. When I walked in the kitchen she was gripping the side of her table with a strained look on her face. Hercules was sitting next to her with his head on her thigh.

     "Y/n are you alright?" I asked concerned. I pulled out the chair for her to sit down in. She winced as she sat down.

     "I'm okay it's just the cut from earlier. It's nothing to make a fuss over." She replied faking a look of ease. I shook my head and walked to grab something out of my jacket. It was a small bottle of ibuprofen. "I thought V could heal you...why do you have these?" She asked. I rubbed the back of my neck.

     "Old habit I guess from when I was out of work. Anyway let's eat these delicious burgers and fries," I said with a smile. She took an ibuprofen before I took a bite. I pulled away and looked at her in surprise. "THERE'S CHEESE IN THE PATTY!" She giggles holding her side.

     "That's the twist!" She grinned as I ate the burger. It was amazing. The beef was so juicy and the double amount of cheese was perfect!

     "Why are you not a professional chef?" I asked genuinely. "You could be making so much more than a journalist."

     "Well I wouldn't be able to do as much good for the world."
