I'm home alone doing the dishes when the doorbell interrupts my thoughts. I walk over to the door, and I hear thunder outside. I open the door to see Ezra, and he's covered in rain.

"Come in," I tell him, ushering him inside.

I take his coat from him, and I hang it up. It takes me a minute to realize, but then I do.

Why is Ezra here?

"Ezra, what's going on?" I ask him.

"Jo, I need to talk to you," Ezra says.

"What about?" I ask.

"The kids aren't here are they?" Ezra asks.

"Ricky has them," I tell him.

I cross my arms, and I lean against the wall.

"Luke?"

"He's not here," I say, being vague.

Ezra sits down at the kitchen table.

"You're really pregnant?" he asks, his eyes glossy.

Oh, Ezra. It's yours. It's not Luke's.

"I am," I tell him, sitting down across from him.

"And I am too," he says, burying his head in his hands.

The baby's not yours.

"How did this happen?" he asks.

"How did what happen?" I ask.

"God Jo, I broke up with Lucy a day before the party. She made me take her, and then you dropped the pregnancy bomb on me. And then she did too."

I stare at him because I don't know exactly what to say.

"Jo, I want you. I want to be with you."

Oh, Ezra.

"Ezra I can't. You know that," I sigh.

"Because of Luke? I know that was a bullshit story. I know you two better than that."

"Apparently not."

"Why isn't Luke here then? If it were my baby I would've moved down here the second I found out!"

Oh, the irony.

"He's clearing some things up at work. Besides, I'm not that far along, and it's none of your business!" I say, my temper rising.

"Tell me that you love him, and I'll leave you alone."

I don't look at him.

"That's what I thought."

"You know what? This is none of your business! Why do you care?" I scream.

"Because I love you! I love you Jo! I have never stopped loving you!" he says, and I want to fall to the floor.

"You can't love me," I say, my tears apparent.

"And why not?" he asks, his eyes softening.

I stare into his big, beautiful brown eyes.

"I'm with Luke now," I say.

"Is he putting you up to this?" Ezra asks, his tone changing.

If you only knew.

"God no," I say, wiping my eyes.

"What do I have to do to prove how much I love you?" Ezra asks me.

"You're having a baby with Lucy," I say, my teeth gritting.
