All TJ Kippen sees dark. Black and white. And occasionally gray.

Now, this isn't because it's some alternate universe where he has a soulmate he has to find before he can see color.

He just doesn't have anyone to light up his life and help him see color.

To help him be happy.

His father, a Homophobic alcoholic left his family after TJ came out to him.

His mother, a single working parent was hardly ever at home and made barely enough money for them to get by.

His sister, She was going to therapy for years until she couldn't take it anymore.

Sometimes it was hard to remember that TJ would wake up and not have Amber making breakfast for him.

Most days it was him alone in his house wondering why he had to move away from his friends.

He was new in Shadyside but he already had a reputation for being a bully.

TJ walked out of the bedroom in the apartment and of course, found nothing but a note from his mom saying she was working late again and that food was in the fridge.

TJ took out cold lasagna from last night and didn't even bother heating it up.

He sat in silence eating his "breakfast" before he decided to wander around the town.

Cyrus was bored on this cold winter day and walked to the park and over towards the swings.

He was suprised to find someone else sitting in the swing he usually sat it.

"Um, Hi,"Cyrus said walking up behind the boy.

"Oh hey,"The boy responded turning around.

He had dirty blonde hair that fluffed up and sparkling hazel eyes.

There were a couple freckles on his nose and his face seemed exactly equal.

"I'm Cyrus,"Cyrus said sitting on the other swing.

"I'm TJ,"The boy said,"Do you come here often?"

"Only when I have something to really think about,"Cyrus said.

"So, it helps,"TJ asks.

"To me, If you swing you can release everything that's on your mind,"Cyrus said.

"That was very poetic,"TJ said,"But, what's on your mind?"

"I'm pretty lonely right now,"Cyrus said.

"Well, I'm right here,"TJ said.

"Yeah, but my friends they're all dating which makes me third wheel alot of the time. I don't know,"Cyrus said.

"Have you tried dating,"TJ asked.

"Kind of hard when your the only gay kid in Shadyside,"Cyrus said.

"Oh,"TJ said.

"You don't hate me,"Cyrus asked.

"No, of course not,"TJ said.

"I don't know,"Cyrus said before changing the subject,"What's on your mind?"

"You know how you were talking about being lonely,"TJ asked.

"Yeah,"Cyrus said.

"I'm pretty lonely too,"TJ said.

"Oh, well maybe we could be lonely together,"Cyrus said.

"Maybe,"TJ said.

"So I'm lonely because of relationships but what are you lonely because of,"Cyrus asked.
