We sat at the kitchen table, chatting with Betsy. I was holding Aidan's hand under the table and he rubbed his thumb across my palm.

"Exactly. Open auditions are a key." Aidan said.

"And practicing singing. More YouTube. Keep herself relevant." Betsy winked at me. "I know the ins and outs of show business."

Aidan leaned in. "You actually do. Do you have experience?"

"Not technically, but in my twenties I was an manager."

I opened my mouth in shock. "Betsy! That's so cool!"

She looked bashful. "Not really. None of my clients really went anywhere."

"Still." Aidan said leaning back in his chair. "Good to have someone who knows what they're doing."

"And someone who has connections!" Betsy said pointing at Aidan.

Our banter was interrupted when Craig suddenly walked into the Kitchen. "Hi." He said as he smiled at me and continued to walk to the fridge. Then he whipped back around and stared at Aidan. "Who the hell is this?"

"This is Aidan!" I said.

"Doesn't answer my question. Why is he here?"

Betsy stood up. "A friend of Cecelia's. A close friend."

"Why is Cecelia suddenly bringing her boyfriends here?"

Aidan squeezed my hand and I looked at him timidly.

"This is her home, Craig. Please be respectful."

"It's not permanent right? Isn't she leaving eventually? What if one of her guys turns out to be a weirdo who murders us now  that they know where we live?"

"Craig!" Betsy said, sounding appalled.

"I'm sorry Cecelia." He paused. "And Arden."

"Aidan." Corrected Betsy, and Craig shot her a look before sulking into their bedroom.

Aidan started getting up. "It's clearly time for me to go."

Betsy pushed him down. "No. You can stay as long as you want. Even longer, just to spite him." She laughed a little before smiling sadly. "I'm sorry about him. We are both going through some tough times and he just hasn't been himself."

"It's fine." I Said. "I'm happy."

"That's good." She said. "Why don't we all play a board game?"

Betsy disappeared into the living room before presenting us with monopoly. I chose the thimble, Aidan chose the dog, and Betsy chose the hat.

The game was long and trying. I kept overspending and almost losing... it was quickly dubbed by Aidan as "Leah's way".

"Hah! That's my monopoly!" I Said triumphantly as Aidan landed on Tennessee Avenue. Aidan was winning the game so I felt no pity as he shelled out $950 dollars.

"I'll be taking that cash back from you soon..." he said.

Betsy shook her head. "He's right. Aidan has all monopolies on this side of the board." She pretended to let a tear fall. "I simply don't know how I'll survive."

She was right, the game ended a few minute later after we went Bankrupt because of Aidan. He was a gracious winner in front of Betsy, but when she turned away he stuck his tongue out at me.

After a few minutes Betsy said, "Let's watch a movie."

After a few tedious minutes of browsing our options, we settled on an old thriller.

We all squeezed onto the couch, Betsy sitting on the left and Aidan on my right. The first few seconds of me movie had a jump scare and I screamed and snuggled up closer to Aidan. He put his arm around me and I rested on his arm, my toes barely touching Betsy.

As the movie progressed I slowly got closer to Aidan, using him to hide behind. Eventually my face was right under his, and he leaned down to kiss my forehead.

Betsy cleared her throat and Aidan
picked his head up immediately. She chuckled and I looked at Aidan lovingly for the rest of the movie, not really paying attention.

As the end neared Betsy said she was going to bed. She raised her eyebrows and said, "I trust you both, but Aidan should be gone by midnight."

"No problem." He said. "My mom wants me home by eleven thirty."

Betsy left the room and we finished watching the movie. As the credits rolled an eerie silence filled the room.

"Well." I Said, my head in Aidan's lap. "We're alone."

Aidan looked down at me and smirked. "Yeah. We are."

I squirmed out of his grip and padded into my room. My heart was beating wildly in my chest and I flattened out my hair.

Aidan peeked his head over the side of my door. Only his green eyes were visible as he said, "Dimg dong, anyone home?"

I giggled and pulled him into my room. Our lips met and we fell onto the bed. I broke the kiss and he sat up against my pillows. I crawled over to him and stood on my knees, looking down on him.

I sat down on his lap and jerked him up to my lips. I kissed him violently, full of want. My body moved on its own as it pushed itself up against Aidan. The primal part of my brain knew what it wanted... closer. I wrapped my arms around him and pulled, like I could merge us.

He broke the kiss and sat up straight, kissing my neck lightly. I put my hand up his shirt, feeling his toned body. He did the same, but stopped before his hand went too far up.

I touched his chin and pulled it up before kissing him again. He was breathing heavily, and he put his hands on my waist. His hands were cold on my bare skin.

"Cecelia-" he said gruffly. "You are gorgeous." The way he said my name made my heart flutter and I kept kissing him, my hands placed in the back of his head pushing him close to me.

I broke the kiss and stroked his cheek with the back of my hand. We stayed there for a while, feeling magical.
