Due to the fact that Niall was now seven months pregnant, getting out of bed in the morning had turned into a chore rather an instinct. Niall would lay in bed on his side, cooing down at his still growing baby bump, until around noon and muster up enough energy to hoist himself up off the rather large, plush bed.
Once he had managed to get into a sitting position he would have to stop for a moment to catch his breath again. Then push himself up off the bed, quickly grabbing onto the bedside table to ensure that he could steady himself.
Niall would place his left hand on the crook of his back, whilst the other hand rested on his swollen stomach. He’d waddle his way down the hallway. Not even bothering to put a shirt on because at this point none of his tops fit him anyways and he was always getting too hot.
"Liam?" Niall called out once he’d reached the top of the staircase and started slowly, waddling down them. "Are you home?" He called out again once he had made it to the bottom step and stopped to catch his breath again, still cradling his stomach with his right hand.
Niall assumed Liam was in the kitchen because as soon as Niall started to make his way down the long hallway he could smell an assortment of food. So it had to be either Liam or Niall’s hormones were really making him crazy.
"I knew this would wake you up." Liam said smiling at Niall once he’d entered the kitchen and saw the massive breakfast he had laid out for him on the breakfast bar.
"No, Aberum kept kicking me." Niall lied smoothly as he picked up some bacon and shoved it hungrily into his mouth.
"Sure, babe." Liam laughed as he watched Niall fill two plates full of food and then waddle his was over to a stool and plop down, simultaneously shoving more food into his mouth. "Slow down, piggy. I know you’re eating for two but bloody hell, breathe." Liam jokingly said as he watched Niall finish off one plate and go to the second.
It always amazed Liam how much Niall could eat, even when he wasn’t pregnant. Niall ate and ate and ate, he never seemed to again an ounce. Until now of course.
Niall was just about to dig into his stack of fluffy, golden brown pancakes when Liam’s comment registered in his head. He slowly put his fork down, swallowed his food and looked up at Liam. Tears had already started to prick Niall’s now glossed over eyes.
"Liam, are you calling me fat?" Niall practically sobbed out as his tears began to flow down his flushed cheeks.
Horror washed over Liam’s face when he realized that it probably wasn’t the best idea to joke about Niall’s weight, specially when his hormones are kicked into overdrive. I mean just last week Niall bursted into tears at the grocery store because they didn’t have the type of cheese he wanted.
"Baby, I was just kidding. I’m sorry." Liam quickly jumped up and stood behind Niall, wrapping his arms around Niall’s shoulders. "I shouldn’t of said that, Niall please stop crying." Liam’s chest felt like it was going to explode, he hated when Niall was upset or anyone for that matter.
"I know you think I’m fat and disgusting." Niall sobbed loudly as he began to hiccup. "You’re going to leave me aren’t you. As soon as he’s out of me, you’re going to leave us both aren’t you!" Niall shouted through tears as Liam’s eyes started to prick with tears because Niall’s outbursts have never been this drastic before.
"Baby, please stop. You’re going to make me cry, I’m never going to leave you. Either of you." Liam cooed into Niall’s ear, trying to rock Niall’s body in the chair attempting to comfort him.
The next thing Liam knew Niall let out a loud sob and swiped his hand across the table, sending both of his plates to the floor making a loud clashing sound and the plates shattered.
