Midnight rolls around and Liam knows he should’ve expected it. The text, the telltale sounds of a car pulling up in the driveway, headlights off of course because that’s just how it works. Liam goes outside, a weird feeling churning in his stomach as he slides into the passenger’s seat of the sleek black car. He spares a nervous glance over, taking in the driver’s appearance. It takes his breath away, just like it always does. He quickly looks away when the man goes to speak.
“Buckle up. We’ve got a long drive.”
The deep voice sends shivers down Liam’s spine and he does as he’s told, following Harry’s orders as the car pulls away from his house. Harry waits until they’re down the block to turn the headlights back on, picking up speed once he’s away from the quiet and sleepy neighborhood. It takes a good ten minutes and all of Liam’s might to mutter just a few simple words.
“It’s been a while…s-since I’ve heard from you.” He mutters, voice just audible over the soft music lulling in the car.
Harry offers a half-smile and nods, reaching over and resting his hand on Liam’s. He doesn’t say anything. Liam knows that this drive can only end in one of two ways and he’s really hoping it isn’t the one it usually does—badly. Sometimes it’s amazing being with Harry like this. The secrecy thrills Liam in a way he’s never felt before. His quiet life hadn’t really allowed for much danger or excitement, but then Harry came along and Liam’s simple style got flipped totally upside-down. For nearly a year now Liam’s been following Harry around like a lost puppy in the rain, seeking the warmth of his strong arms and his bright smile.
And honestly, Liam should know better by now. He has that nagging feeling in his chest that keeps reminding his that he should tell Harry to leave, that he should go back home and go to sleep and forget about this boy with the curls and green eyes. He knows where this is going, he knows what’s going to happen exactly down to the moment. But he can’t do it. He can’t tell Harry to go because he doesn’t want him to. He wants the constant circle of…well, whatever this is. He craves it.
And how could he not? Harry reminds his of some kind of prince, like a daydream; something you’d never think was real until it was right in front of you. A modern day James Dean, handsome beyond belief with those ridiculous wild eyes and his long hair. He’s got it slicked back tonight and the length of it just manages to brush the white t-shirt he’s got on. The thin material does nothing to cover his muscles and his tattoos and Liam’s mouth almost waters at the sight. But its things like this that make Liam question how this even happened—how he and Harry found each other. Of all the people Liam knew were falling at Harry’s feet for a chance to just look at him properly, Harry picks Liam from the bunch. Not that Liam was falling. Honestly, he wasn’t. Not then, at least. Now is a different story.
But Liam is so opposite of Harry it’s almost dizzying. Liam is classic, all neutral tones and soft colors, warm brown eyes and short cropped light brown hair. He’s a gentleman, a proper one, the kind that holds doors for people and volunteers away his free time to help a cause and literally walks old ladies across the street. He’s such a good boy, even in his tight little jeans, and he never expected himself to end up with someone as reputably dangerous as Harry.
Yet here he is in Harry’s sports car, driving way too fast down this empty street. Harry’s eyes are looking all over the place, at Liam and his own body and anything but the road and Liam feels another rush of that weird feeling shoot through him when his own body registers how risky this is. When they finally get to where Liam knew they’d go—Harry’s house—the curly haired boy pulls into the driveway and gets out, waiting for Liam to do the same. He grips the shorter boy’s bicep with his much-too-large hand and tugs Liam inside, locking the door behind them. He doesn’t bother turning on any lights as he moves through the house with Liam in tow, taking him upstairs as if Liam didn’t already know the way.
