Daddy parked next to Liam’s house, where I was going to stay that night. I unfastened my belt and sank my knees on my seat so I could kiss Daddy before leaving.
“Everything okay, Little?” he asked me, surrounding my shoulders with his arm and stealing one more kiss.
“Yeah, perfect.”
“Do you have everything in your backpack?”
“Yes” I said rolling my eyes, but smiling. Sometimes daddy’s so over protector with me. He doesn’t like to lose me of sight for more than a pair of hours, and every time I have a sleepover at Liam’s he gets a bit too much worried.
“I love you” he says softly into my ear. I was smiling, hugging him with all my strength. Even when we kept doing things along these two weeks since our conversation, he’s a bit sad since this morning, when I asked him if we were going to do it (like I always do), and he told me a bit too aggressively that no, we weren’t. I’ve been trying to get him to show me what sex is, how we can do it, why it’s so important, and his rejecting hurt me a lot. So, when he told me ‘no’, with that cold and sharp look, I started crying.
“I love you so much, sweetheart” he repeated, giving me one last peck on the lips.
“I love you too, Daddy.”
He waited on the road until Liam’s mom opened the door and let me in. I waved at him one last time, and then he left, with that sad look he’s had all day.
“Nice to see you, Harry” mommy said, crouching in front of me so our faces where at the same height. I love Liam’s mum so much, she’s like the mom I’ve never had since I have two daddies… “Liam’s upstairs at his room.” She kissed my forehead and stood up. “He’s waiting for you” she whispered with a smile, patting my shoulder before I ran up the stairs to the first floor, exclaiming a little ‘thanks Mrs. Payne!’
“Leeyum!” I shouted, opening the door and pouncing towards where he was sitting on the bed. “Harry!” he exclaimed too, opening his arms for me.
Liam’s been my best friend since first day of school. He’s four years older than me, that’s why he’s a head taller than me. He was the only one who repaired on my presence when I sat alone, sobbing in a corner of the playground, wanting to come back home with my dad. I saw him bending over me and placing a gentle hand on my shoulder, asking: “Hey, you okay?”
“No…” I said, rubbing my eyes with the back of my hands. “What’s the matter?”
“I want to come back home with my daddy… I don’t like this place” I confessed to him, flushed. “Eh, c’mon, do you want to come with me? So you’re not here alone?” I nodded, letting him take my hand and help me to stand up. He smiled sweetly at me from above. “Don’t cry” he said, giving me his hand again. “Liam.” I wiped my eyes one last time and shook his hand. “Harry.”
“Do you want to cook muffins today?”
I jumped between his arms at the question, with a happy smile on my face. “Yes, yes, yes, Liam please! And cookies too!”
“Of course! But can we finish watching pokemon first? I love this chapter.”
I nodded eagerly. We sat on his bed. I was between his legs with my back against his chest, and his arms surrounding me.
I adore Liam because he cares about me. He always knows what can make me smile, or when I’m going to cry. He knows everything I like and everything I don’t. And even when he has a thousand friends (because it’s impossible a boy as sweet as Liam to have less friends) he’s always available for me. He is practically my brother.
