Hikaru sits quietly next to the intubated boy, holding Chinen's hand since the surgery ended six hours ago. He never let it go, not even once. The bed sheet where he lays his head is wet from his tears.

"Gomen ne Chii..." Hikaru apologizes for the million times. "I broke my promise. I couldn't protect you. Forgive me..." and he kisses the cold hand again.

"Wake up Chii. I have a lot of things to tell you... a lot..." Hikaru's tears fall once more. "We've lost Keito and Ryu... we don't want to lose you too... No...I don't want to lose you... Open your eyes Chii... onegai..." the older boy pleads to the unconscious Chinen.

Hikaru couldn't hide his emotion anymore. The whole time he has been acting tough, trying to look cool in front of the others. But as for now he doesn't care about his image anymore. He takes all the blame to himself- for being too late to rescue Keito, for leaving Ryutaro unattended forgetting that he is just a boy, and for not able to save Chinen from the bullet.

If I had gone to the dungeon earlier Keito may still be alive, Ryutaro won't fall from the cliff and Chinen won't be on the boat and get shot. It's entirely my fault!!!

Pain. That's what Hikaru feels now. He doesn't want to lose Chinen. No, it's not going to happen. Chinen has to stay alive, stay by his side- in his arm, where he truly belongs.

"I love you Chii," Hikaru kisses Chinen's forehead.

"Hikaru," Shoon enters the ICU room with Daiki. "You need to get your rest too. Go back to your room. I'll stay with him."

"Shoon is right Hika. Come on, we'll call you when Chii wakes up," Daiki tries to reassure the weeping boy.

Hikaru shakes his head, tighten his grasp on Chinen's hand. "I wasn't there when he needs me. Let me stay. At the very least this is the only thing I can do to make up for it."

"How many times do I need to tell you? It's not your fault! It was an accident!"

"It is my fault!!" Hikaru raises his voice a little bit. "I broke my promise! I couldn't protect him! I'm useless!!"

Shoon walks closer to the crying boy and gently put his hand on Hikaru's shoulder. "You saved three others Hikaru. And I'm sure Chinen wouldn't want it any other way. It's almost midnight. Go, get some sleep. You don't want to show that sloppy face to your boyfriend when he wakes up right?"

Hikaru looks at his former band-mate straight in the eyes. The caring eyes Shoon has had never change. He knows Shoon is worried about him, as much as he is worried about Chinen.

"Baka, he's not my boyfriend," Hikaru wipes his tears. "Not yet..."

The clock strikes 12. It's November 30th 2010.

Hikaru stands up and kisses Chinen's forehead for the second time.

"I'll come back Chii," he whispers to Chinen's ears. "Happy birthday."
