Stay With Me: Hogwarts Rewritten

Part 14

I woke up this morning and headed downstairs to wait for Hermione like i always did.

"Harry we had the best idea. The prank to end all pranks. We thought you might want to be apart of it" Fred and George asked walking over towards me

I always enjoyed watching their pranks, but I wasn't much for pranking people.

"Sorry not today. But let me know when you're going to do it. I would love to watch" I tell them just as Hermione came down the stairs

"What are you two up to now? No good I expect?" She asks already knowing the answer to that question

"We would never do something bad to the good students of Hogwarts. Who do you think we are?" They asked shocked before walking away

"We should get to breakfast. I don't even want to think about what they are going to do next"

We walked to the great hall only to see Ron and Malloy hanging around in the hallway. They were with a few others, but we walked past them ignoring there glances and yelling as they tried to get our attention.

"Hey Granger, after you get through that ugly duckling faze, you can come find me. I'm sure Potter wouldn't mind" I heard Ron yell as we walked past them

I stopped walking and looked behind me, before I could walk towards him, Hermione stopped me and grabbed my arm.

"Harry don't! I've dealt with worse. Just let's go" She says grabbing my hand

I just can't let him get away with insulting her, that wasn't right. I'm now thinking about talking with George and Fred about that prank. Ignoring the rest of my thoughts, Hermione and I sat down and ate our food.

After breakfast we ran to see professor Dumbledore. He needed to know what could possibly happen. We heard Snape saying the password a few days ago, which was good because we had no way of getting in touch with him.

"Chocolate Frogs" Hermione said the password and the staircase opened and led us to his office

When we walked up the stairs, we saw the headmaster and professor Mcgonagall talking at his desk. I felt bad interrupting their conversation, but it needed to be done.

"We have something to tell you" We both said

They looked at us before gesturing us to take a seat. We told them, we told them everything from professor Quirell messing with my broom to what Hagrid said about Nicolas Flamel.They needed to know everything. We even told them what we found in the library and how we met fluffy. I was nervous because they didn't say anything as we explained everything. I was hoping we wouldn't get in trouble for sneaking around and asking questions, but I would imagine that the professors would want to keep the stone safe.

"You two do not leave this office! Do you understand. We are going to deal with this. You are to not move a muscle until we get back. Albus inform Severus about what is happening. We need to go investigate all of this" Professor Mcgonagall says sternly before walking out with the headmaster

"Do you think they will find the stone and destroy it? I'm worried Harry" Hermione whispers

I was worried too. I don't like the idea of having someone who killed my parents, trying to kill me as well. I just wanted to have a good year and not have to deal with anymore bullies.

"They are two of the most powerful wizards at Hogwarts, I'm sure they will figure it out. We just need to sit and wait. Let's work on our potions essay"

Later...

It has been hours since they left us. Something must have happened. Suddenly the door open behind us. Both Hermione and I stood up only to be met with Professor Snape.

"I was told you two needed to be informed about what happened. It seems you two were right. We took off his turban and it revealed his true form. We found him in the trapped door. The stone is destroyed and so is Tom....now wait here" Snape says in his usual monotone voice before walking out

I didn't know what to say. It was over just like that? From everything I read and heard about this all powerful Voldemort, he couldn't just be gone. It made no sense. At least for now we were safe, but that doesn't mean he won't be back. I felt this wouldn't be the end.

"Oh Harry" Hermione walked over to me and pulled me in for a hug

Once again the door opened and finally The headmaster walked back in. We let go of each other and took our seats back down.

"Severus informed you I hope. We had no idea that You Know Who could get this close to you. I'm sorry Harry. But it is all handled" He says kindly

"The stone is gone sir? I didn't think it could be destroyed so easily" Hermione asks him

"It is in a safe place. No need to worry about it anymore. Now back to another topic....Harry I just need to ask you something important" He says changing the topic, I was a little nervous when his tone changed

"Yes?"

"How long have you resided at the grangers home?"

I didn't really expect him to ask me about that. I didn't think where I lived mattered at all. Was he going to make go back and live with them?

"Sir you must understand. I couldn't live with the Dursley's anymore. They were the worst people. I don't understand why you would leave me with them. I imagine they're are my only family I have left. But the grangers treat me as family and I love them. I can't go back to the Dursley's. I have been living with her since before school started" I told him

"Harry I understand that they are not the type of people who understand you, but your aunt and mother have the same blood. You can be protected with your aunt because of the blood ties your mother and her share. You can be protected with her"

Before I could respond, Hermione stood up and the tears started in her eyes.

"Excuse me! Are you seriously telling Harry to go back with his family. They are the worst kind of people. You don't understand everything he has been though. His family is both physically and verbally abusive towards him. He lives in a cupboard for Merlin's sake. I saw them. You had to have known what he went through. He is my best friend and I won't let him go back. He is staying with me. I don't care about stupid blood ties, he will be more protected staying with me. I won't let him get hurt!" Hermione yells

I was shocked, I had no idea how she felt. I couldn't be more thankful for Hermione and her family. I couldn't go back to living with my family, I won't do it.

"Ms.Granger I had no idea. Maybe we can come to an understanding. But we must inform his family that he will be staying with you for time being. I can send a letter" He says softly, but I could see the slight guilt in his eyes

She sat back down and I saw her wiping the tears from her eyes. I don't know how long we sat there before we were excused. He told us not to say anything, we needed to act like it never happened.

We walked down the hall back towards the common room, we didn't say a word. I decided to pull Hermione into one of the closets so she could just let everything out. This year has been....hard. Once in the closet we fell on my chest and stared sobbing. I wrapped him arms around her and held her as she cried. This year is almost over and I think everything that happened was finally realized.

I know. I made the choice not to have Harry and Hermione defeat Voldemort in the first part of the story because they are still just kids and I didn't think it should have been left to them. Please don't hate me for not putting in that whole confrontation with Voldemort. I promise their second year will be just like the book. Anyways I hope you guys enjoyed. There first year will end next chapter.
