Sapphire's POV:

Nick, Harry, Ron, George, Fred, and Ginny were flying around playing Quidditch. Hermione, Draco, and I were building snow men as we watched our friends toss the quaffle around. After Christmas we were all busy helping Molly clean and cook meals. Not to mention the high traffic of Order members coming and going. Gellert and I were sending letters to each other. Sirius was the one testing my mail, which was great especially since he already knew about Gellert and I being in a relationship. So I had nothing to worry about. Other than that, everything was so peaceful; I was feeling way better day by day. "Do you think the Order will be able to hunt You-Know-Who down? I mean... that's what they're trying to do, aren't they?" Hermione said, breaking the comfortable silence. "They're hunting down his followers first. That's the best way You-Know-Who will get caught. I really hope he does." I replied as I added the middle to our snowman with some help from my friends. My mind took a turn to what Voldemort had done to my parents. I desperately hoped that the aurors would take that evil man down for all the horrible things he has done. There was a moment of quietness that passed between the three of us. The only sounds were coming from our Quidditch playing friends. "I didn't mean to bring up any bad memories." Hermione said, breaking the quiet. "It's okay." I said letting out a deep breath, which turned to smoke when it hit the cold winter air. "Do you guys mind if I join you?" I heard Sirius's voice say. I turned to look in the direction of his voice and seen him wearing a black jacket with a dark purple colored scarf. His gloves were black as well as his pants. He helped us finish building our snowman before we walked closer to watch the others. We cheered them on and I hoped that Gryffindor beat Ravenclaw when we got back to Hogwarts... when Quidditch started again. I started thinking about Gellert and wondered where he was and what he was doing. 'He's probably in his office or in some kind of meeting.' I thought inside of my head as I watched my friends fly above us on their brooms. Deep down all I wanted was to be with him. I wanted to be in a nice warm bed cuddled up closely to my wonderful boyfriend. But being with my best friends is a better place to be than somewhere else where I I'm alone. "Hey guys! Time to come inside! Molly says lunch is ready!!" Arthur's voice echoed loudly in the cool, crisp air. Everyone landed safely on the ground and we walked towards the house. Sirius complemented Harry and the others on their flying skills. When we reached the burrow I took my jacket off and washed my hands before sitting down at the dinner table. After everyone took their seats at the table we ate some yummy sandwiches Molly had mad us. Then we gathered in the living room to get warm near the crackling fireplace. We joked and laughed as we enjoyed the hot coco Molly had made for us. Fred, George, Nick, and I were doing magic tricks that impressed the others. "Sorry to interrupt the fun, but there's someone here to see you Sapphire." Remus's voice said, breaking up the laughter that had filled the room. "Okay." I replied after a few minutes of silence. I hoped that Gellert was here to see me as I followed Remus into the kitchen. But when I seen Snape sitting at the kitchen table my heart sort of dropped. Sirius was glaring at Snape and Snape was glaring right back at him. "Here she is." Remus said, which broke up all the angry staring. I could hear Arthur tinkering around in his workshop. Molly was standing by the stove cooking a delicious smelling soup for dinner tonight. "What did you wanna see me about, professor?" I asked him curiously as I sat down in front of him. Deep down I didn't fully trust him, especially since he mysteriously disappeared before my parents attacked Remus and I. "There are some things I wish to discuss with you... preferably... in private." He said, glancing from Sirius to Remus. "If that's the case then the best thing for us to do it go outside." I said as I stood up and put my jacket on. Snape stepped outside first and I followed. Before I closed the door behind me I gave Sirius and Remus a look that they returned. I wanted them to be prepared in case Snape tried anything or did something suspicious. "I know you probably view me differently after what happened in Diagon Ally." He said in his deep baritone voice. "Of course I do. You were the one who disappeared while Remus and I had to fend for ourselves." I said as I put my hands in my jacket pockets. We walked over to a couple of logs that were laying at the edge of the woods. Then he told me how he use to be a death eater and how he turned to the good side. "Dumbledore has me acting as a double agent so he can get inside information on the Dark Lord. No one else knows this besides the Order." He said, looking at me with his onyx colored eyes. "Something went wrong that day then? The day my parents tried to kill me." I said, and he nodded slightly. "Yes, everything went wrong and I hate to admit that I'm glad Remus had went with us that day. If not then I fear that you probably wouldn't be here right now." He replied with what looked like sadness in his black eyes. He told me how he left Remus and I after getting potion ingredients at the apothecary. How he went to see some of Voldemort's death eaters. The plan was just for him to exchange some information, but he didn't know that the death eaters were planning on attacking me. "I swear I didn't know your parents were going to be there. I'm so sorry, Miss. Vander.... especially since... well... you know what you had to do." He said. After his explanation I was starting to look at him the way I had before all this mess happened. At least he came clean and admitted that he's a double agent. 'I wonder if Dumbledore told him to tell me, or he acted on his own.' I thought inside of my head as he and I walked back to the house. The only sounds were coming from our feet crunching snow and chirping birds. "Listen, there's no bad blood between us professor. I know what you're doing is very valuable to the Order. I do wish you would have mentioned something sooner so I wouldn't have thought ill of you." I said as we stopped at the front door of the burrow. "I apologize. Dumbledore told me to keep quiet about what I've been doing until now." He said. I told him that I'd obviously tell my friends just so they didn't look at him in a tarnished light. Well... at least not in a light that isn't as tarnished as it was already. Then we started saying our goodbyes. "Would you like to stay for dinner? Molly is making soup." I said even though I knew he wouldn't eat with us. "No, no. I have to get back to the school. There's plenty of meetings I need to attend. Thanks for the offer anyway." He said before he walked down the path a ways before apparating away. I opened the front door to the burrow and walked inside its lovely warmth. Sirius, Remus, and Arthur were sitting at the kitchen table. The rich smells of coffee and tea lingered in the air, and I count hear anyone in the living room anymore. So I figured that my friends probably went upstairs to their rooms. Molly asked if I wanted coffee, tea, or coco and I asked for coffee. After she sat down a mug full of steaming black liquid, I told them what Snape had told me. "We wanted to tell you, Sapphire. We really did." Sirius said with an apologetic look on his face as he brushed some of his hair out of his face. "It's just... Dumbledore told us not to tell anyone." Remus said with the same sort of look in his eyes. "I guess he changed his mind if he allowed Snape to come clean to you. Honestly I think it's for the best. Keeping secrets within the Order sets seeds for bad news." Arthur said with a small smile on his face. Once the four of us were finished talking Molly toke me where my friends were. I headed upstairs and found them in one of the rooms upstairs. After telling them what Snape had said all over again Ron and Harry talked about how much they hate him. "Well, I for one don't trust him." Ron said. "Yeah, once a death eater always a death eater. Just like Sirius said." Harry replied. "Come on you guys, Dumbledore trusts him." Hermione said, attempting to make them see reason. But I think if I were them I wouldn't trust Snape either. He always looks for excuses to take points from Gryffindor. Not to mention the way he treats Harry, Ron, and Neville in potions class. 'At least they don't have to put up with that much now, especially since I'm the teachers assistant.' I thought inside of my head. Ginny prevented an argument from happening, which I was thankful for. I wasn't in the mood to hear people argue. After a few minutes I went up to the room I was sharing with Hermione and Ginny. Even though I loved having company I just really wanted to be alone. From the looks Draco and Nick gave me as I left them I figured they knew something was up. Honestly I was feeling a bit worried. I was afraid that my friends might get hurt since Voldemort wasn't successful in killing me via my parents. I didn't want the ones I love getting murdered just because of me. But what was ripping me apart the most was how far away I am from Gellert. That nightmare I had of not being able to help or save my boyfriend from He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. Since I was thinking about him, I decided to write Gellert a letter.

Dear Gellert,

I can't believe that school will be starting back up again soon. I hate to admit it, but I'm actually looking forward to classes starting back up. Speaking of classes, Snape came by and talked with me. I'm sure you'll probably know what he told me, so I won't mention it in the letter. I guess I should come clean. I didn't really write this letter to tell you how things have been recently. The truth is... I haven't been able to stop thinking about you. All that occupies my mind is that nightmare I had where you were in danger and I wasn't able to help you. Maybe I'm just over thinking or maybe it's because I miss you so much. But... I just have to know you're okay. Sending letters to each other just isn't enough. I'm sorry if I'm being silly and a little clingy. I love you. I hope to get a reply as soon as you're able to send one.

Love,

- Sapphire

After finishing the letter I read it over to make sure I had said everything I wanted to. Then I folded it before placing it in an envelope. I sealed it in emerald green wax and stamped the Slytherin crest in it. Once it dried I walked downstairs and opened the door to the room my friends were in. "Harry, could I borrow Hedwig? I need to send a letter." I said. "Sure." He said, looking taken aback for a second. He stood up and opened Hedwig's cage. His beautiful snowy owl flew towards me and landed on my shoulder. "Thanks." I said with a small smile. "No problem." Harry replied with a small smile as well. After sending the letter with Hedwig I offered to help Molly finish cooking dinner even though she insisted she didn't need any help. Sirius helped me set the table. I could hear Remus and Arthur talking in the living room. "Did you send a letter to Gellert?" Sirius asked me curiously in a hushed tone. "Yeah." I replied, blushing slightly and he smiled. "You two really make a cute couple." He said. I couldn't help the smile that was on my face. Having someone who considers me as a daughter accept me being with Gellert was... different. Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined an adult being okay with Gellert and I having a romantic relationship. "Thanks." I said with a light laugh. Molly sent Arthur up to tell the others that dinner was ready after he washed his hands. Remus washed his hands before taking his seat at the dinner table. Sirius and I took our seats and a few minutes later my friends came downstairs and joined us. Molly filled our bowls with soup while we buttered ourselves a slice of homemade bread. Everything tasted wonderful. There's nothing better than a good bowl of soup on a cold winter's day. Nick, Draco, and I volunteered to clean up after everyone was finished eating. "Are you okay? I mean... you looked really worried earlier. I didn't wanna say anything in front everyone else though." Nick said, breaking the comfortable silence that had settled down around us. "I'm just worried about Gellert. I know it's silly, but I don't want my latest nightmare to come true." I said with a deep sigh. "He'll be safe Sr Hogwarts. With the extra security and everything I doubt anyone would be able to get into the school now." Draco said, trying to make me relax. The two of them said words of comfort and they helped a little. I just knew I wouldn't be able to truly relax until I got a reply from Gellert. Once we finished cleaning up we joined the others in the living room. "Man, I could go for one of those pastries Queenie and Jacob sent you." Ron said to me as I sat down. "She doesn't have anymore, Ron. You practically ate them all." Fred said. "Yeah, everyone else were just lucky enough to get one." George said, nudging his little brother playfully. "I'll write Queenie a letter and ask if they could send more." I said with a slight laugh. Ron was right though; those pastries Jacob made were amazing! They were the best baked goods I've ever had, but I wouldn't admit that in front of Molly. It's not like her baking wasn't good, it's just that Jacob added something in his stuff that made them taste magical. Eventually everyone decided to go to bed. I changed into my pajamas and climbed into bed a few minutes before Ginny and Hermione. They shut out the lights before we said goodnight to each other. I'm not sure how much time passed before I eventually fell into a deep dream less sleep.
