Taehyung's doctor had given him some more morphine to help him rest properly while Seokjin was kicked out of the hospital for violence - Yoongi instructed Jungkook to take him home and watch him. Namjoon reassured Taehyung to rest by staying beside him, Yoongi and Jimin driving to their respected homes to collect their equipment.Jimin closed the door shut, turning back to the computers that scattered the floor and table - wiring snaking around the room like a puzzle. Yoongi sat criss crosses on the floor as Namjoon sat on the chair beside Taehyung's bed, ice-pack in hand and pressing against the back of his head.
"... Update me," Namjoon says to Jimin. "... I care for that little girl as much as Taehyung does."
Jimin sat beside Yoongi, flipping his laptop open and turning it on. "... That woman's name is Hann, she's been working with them since they separated. We background checked her before she was apart of the syndicate, she was fucking clean."
"... Seperated?" Namjoon asks, "Tell me about Jangmi's mother."
"... All of this happened because of a custody battle?" Yoongi asks, "Why was Namjoon dragged into this?"
"Pass me the hard drive beside you," Jimin murmurs toward Yoongi before sighing, "Jangmi's mother and Taehyung separated on bad terms when Jangmi was only one year old, she took Jangmi when she fled and it took years for us to get her back. Their fight only involves Jangmi and Jangmi only."
"When Jangmi said a man tried to take her away," Jimin says, grabbing the drive out of Yoongi's hand and uploading the videos up onto his laptop. "He must've been from the West Gang, whose being operated by Hann. There's no way or other reason why Jangmi would be kidnapped. She's the goddamn daughter of a Mafia god for fuck sake, Taehyung pays the school to keep her educated and safe. No one in their right mind would even think about looking at his little girl."
"Taehyung and I make sure her identity is safe on a daily basis," he continues, leaning over to Yoongi. "Use my other laptop to pull up the identification files of Hann, my program is easy to work with."
"Jangmi's identification files are only ever opened toward schools and health insurance," Jimin sighs, "We keep it strictly sealed away other than that. The government doesn't even know she exists. They don't need to know, Taehyung keeps her life slid under the government's noses."
Jimin turns the computer screen to face Namjoon, letting him watch the security camera recording of the house turning into a war zone. "This happened while you three were away," he says, "... The cameras are still operating before Hann started a fire, it's impossible to go home. They can't go home, it's a crime scene now. A massive one."
Namjoon watched the entrance of the large home soak blood on the concrete, the sounds of bullets through the computer's speakers made his ears ache. It wasn't a home anymore, it was a blood bath. He watched as the last bullet fired, and the same woman left the front door with a gasoline can in his hand. Lighting a match and throwing it into the beautiful home like it was nothing.
"There's reports on the news about it," Yoongi says softly, "... Nobody knows who owns the house, that's what they reported."
Namjoon looked over at Taehyung, placing his hand over the slumbering man's and holding it gently. Letting his warmth radiate off his skin, and soothe the sedated man.
"He was worried for Jangmi when she was almost abducted," Jimin says, "He can't just trust anybody around his daughter. When you came into the picture at first, he hated it."
"... You have no idea how much he does as a father," Jimin shakes his head, "... Not as some mafia leader, god, king. A father, not to mention a young one. He was only a teenager when Jangmi's mother told him she was pregnant with his child."
"... She wanted an abortion and so did her family," He says, setting the laptop on his lap. "... He begged her not to. He wanted to be a father even if he wasn't ready. He suffered a lot the first couple months of caring for his baby."
"How do you know all this?" Namjoon asks, gripping Taehyung's hand tighter.
"... I worked with him for a long time," Jimin says, "... I've seen how he grows. You wouldn't believe how different he was before all this shit happened. He use to be so... So lively."
"... We both care about family," Namjoon says, intertwining his fingers with Taehyung's. "... It's always been about family."
"... You love him don't you?" Yoongi speaks up, causing Namjoon to look over. "Even after all he's done? After all that's happened. So many people have been killed these past days because of this. Namjoon, you were kidnapped, tortured, stolen."
"... I haven't forgiven him yet, Yoongi," Namjoon sighs, looking down at the floor. "But I'm trying to understand him, I'm trying to make Jangmi understand him."
"You have Stockholm syndrome," Yoongi shakes his head, letting out a sour laugh. "No, you can't. You have no idea how wrecked the mortala is without you, he's the reason why- why our men died today, why Jjang's fucking dying, why we're here! Why Seokjin is falling apart every goddamn second of the day."
"... Yoongi, don't do this-"
Yoongi gets up, shaking his head. "... I see the way you act around him. Don't lie to me, I've already noticed," he spat, "I'm only
going to help find that little girl and that's it, but you... You have to start helping the mortala back on it's feet again.""... Thank you," Namjoon sighs softly, "... I will, I promise I will..."
"Keep that promise," He says, "The mortala isn't a family without you. Jimin can stay here and figure out their location and a plan. We have to go to Jjang's room and discuss the funeral funds and the families."
"... How many died that night?" Namjoon looks up at the man.
"... We lost thirty nine members," Yoongi clenched his fists, "... Men, brothers, sons, fathers. Men who never got to say goodbye to their families. A kill isn't just a kill it's grabbing a hold of somebody's heart and ripping a piece from it."
Jimin looked at Namjoon. "... You guys shouldn't pay for funerals for people you don't even know."
"No, we support all the families that are apart
of the mortala," Namjoon shakes his head, "... We don't just give out paychecks, we make sure they use it for a better life.""We don't recruit people who want money," Namjoon looks back at Jimin, pursing his lips with a slouch of shoulders. "We help those who don't have any other opportunities, and want to get better. Low income, drug addicts trying to rehabilitate, ex-criminals who want reform. Those who are kicked back in the streets without any guidance."
Yoongi tsked, crossing his arms.
"... The mortala and the mafia have very different meanings of family."
