Sweat beads down my forehead as we walk through the forest.
"Are we almost there?" I ask.
"You just asks me twenty minutes ago." He sighs. "And no. We still have a little while."
I groan and throw my head back. Sweat trails down my neck and onto my chest, making me shiver at the feeling. I must look like a mess.
"Hey," Jungkook places a hand on my shoulder. "You wanna rest for a while?"
I nod and drop onto my butt, placing my bag next to me.
"You sure you're an agent? You act like a fat ass." He snickers and I throw a rock at him, which he successfully dodges. "Piglet." He starts snorting like a pig and I giggle slightly.
For some reason, he hasn't been acting like a complete douche, but has been trying to humor me in any which way.
"Hey." I look towards Jungkook. "Why did you join Big Hit?"
He frowns, the bubbly atmosphere fading into total seriousness faster than ever. "Why do you ask?"
I shrug. "I'm just curious."
He sighs, looking away. "That's a long story for another time."
"We've got time." I say. I cross my legs and listen to him intently. "Now spill."
He exhales deeply, his onyx eyes boring into mine intently. "My parents had given me and my brother up for adoption, and Hitman Bang took me in. He recruited me as an asset."
I cock my head. "And what about your brother?"
He shrugs. "I dunno. I haven't seen him in nearly twenty years."
My heart breaks at that. Losing people you never knew is one thing, but losing someone that you knew and loved is a completely different scenario.
It makes the loss harder to handle, but it looks like Jungkook's handling everything quite well. For the past few days that I've known him, he hasn't said a word about his brother or anything of the sort. That, or he's just never talked about it around me.
"That must be hard." I sigh, wiping my sweaty forehead.
He shrugs again. "I've gotten used to it." He looked down. "It gets easier when you detach from any emotional attachments that you have." He looks up at me. "It makes everything easier."
I nod. "I can understand that."
At my gang, I used to do torture and execution. Every single time, it was as painful as watching your family die and not being g able to do anything. The first time, I started crying halfway through the execution as the guy's head was hanging sideways and was hanging on my the spinal cord. I still vividly remember the look of horror on that man's face when the machete sliced his neck, and I remember the abrupt thud of the blade when it hit the bone.
I was sixteen.
It took me a few years to start to get used to it. And as of last year, I was officially given my first mission. By then, I had gotten used to killing.
But, even now, I still have a hard time with it. So I put up this wall that holds all my emotions and fears. It works like a charm.
Jungkook scoffs. "Yeah right, last time you and I fought, you looked like a cold hearted killer." His eyes have gone cold.
I glare at him. "You don't know anything about me." I snarl. "And same goes for you! Have you read your record? All I saw was your long list of killings!"
"Like you're any better!" He yells, a vain starting to pop out of his forehead.
"Who knows! You don't know a damn thing! You're just a thick headed asshat!" I yell back. All I see is boiling red.
His face tightens and his eyes grow dark and cold. "And your an orphan bitch with shitty bangs."
My tight expression falls and my balled up fists unclench at my sides.
Anger explodes within me like a bomb.
I grab him by the neck and fling him backwards onto his back. I'm straddling his lap as I hold a blade to his neck. His eyes widen and he gulps.
"Call me that again and I'll be coming for your head." I threaten in a low whisper. In reality, I'm holding back a flood of tears, but I'm not going to let my guard down, especially not infront of him.
I hold the blade there, my face less than an inch away from his face. From here, I can see all the imperfections that make him sort of beautiful. It's amazing how someone so despicable can be so gorgeous.
In a swift motion, he lets pecks my lips, causing me to widen my eyes and wrench away out of surprise.
"What the hell was that?!" I shriek, covering my mouth.
He sits up and grins. "The only way I could think of to get you off of me."
I scowl and look away, my face as hot as the sun. It feels like my face his on fire.
"Never touch me again." I mumble before I grab the bag and start walking again.
He agrees and follows after me.
I refuse to be ten feet near him. His existence make me want to hurl. Twigs crack all around us and I hear him stop walking.
"Hey, stop moving." He calls.
I spin around and glare at him. "What now, Jeon? You gonna kiss me again?" I roll my eyes and continue walking.
"I said STOP!" He yells, and before I know it, a net is being thrown over me, and the bag flies out of my hands and lands near Jungkook.
I shriek and scramble to get the net off of me, but a large weight holds me down. I look up and spot Taeyang holding me down by the arms.
I look up and spot Jungkook getting out his gun.
"Just go!" I yell. "Get the information back to your boss!"
He hesitates. "But—"
"Did I ask?! GO!!" I yell louder, and he takes off with the bag, but he's immediately knocked down to the ground by none other than Jennie. She places a blade next to his eye and holds him down.
"What the hell?!" I yell. I struggle a d look up at Taeyang. "You don't know what you're doing!"
He picks me up and hold me in a choke hold. "I never listen to a traitor." He snarls, and my heart cracks. "Especially not those I trusted."
I let a tear escape. I used to trust him more than anyone else, and now he's accusing me of being a traitor. We used to tell each other everything, and do everything together. We were best friends.
But that's all gone to hell.
"Taeyang, you don't understand—" his fist comes down and connects with my cheek so hard that I let out a whimper. "Please..."
His cold eyes hold no sympathy and he punches me again, this time making black dots form in my vision.
The voices around me become muffled and I see Jungkook struggling against Jennie, and she nicks his cheek.
"Sorry, Lisa. But you're coming with us." Taeyang sighs, then punches me a their time, this time causing me to lose consciousness.
