Papyrus Man

Once upon a time,
In the alleys of cairo,
There lay a little shop
Hidden in the shadow.

Father and son worked,
Daily, side by side.
Ancient art came to life,
People sought worldwide.

A special plant was made,
Into sheets of paper.
A complex craftsmanship,
With a knife and scraper.

They peel and cut the stalks,
Soak the strips in water,
Let 'em dry and weave 'em
Till they make the blotters.

It was Cyperus papyrus
The gift of the Nile
A plant of history,
Lore and high profile

Father's work was known
For its unique quality
He painted his papyrus
In colors of reality

The father passed away
Left his son with a burden
His little shop would face
A consequence uncertain

'til one day, fate came his way
To reveal a secret boon
What's going on to the son
A future yet unknown
