How I Met My Sidekick (Papyrus Man)

It was nearly mid-afternoon,

When he heard a loud Boom.

Something banged on his door,

Which'd never happened before.

Wary, he pulled it open wide,

And saw a boy standing outside

"What are you doing?" Papyman asked.

"Playing. And you?" the boy sassed.

"With a stinky sock ball?"

The boy frowned. "That's all I've got, Mr. Have-it-all."

He turned to leave, his head hanging low.

The hero felt in his heart a guilty blow.

"Come here, kid. What's your name?"

"Tut's my name. Now let me go back to my game."

"Tut?! Did Amun send you here?"

"Who's Mamun?"

"Must be Hapi."

"I'm not happy. I'm just sad. Don't be a creep, or I'll bring my dad."

"Creep?! Kid, you're the one who shot and scored on my door."

"Didn't break anything, did I? Now I'm gonna go bye-bye."

"Wait! Don't you want a real soccer ball? Like the ones on TV?"

"I can't afford what doesn't grow on trees."

"Oh, but they do! Wanna see? Let me show you what I can do, and guess what? It's for free."

PapyMan pulled a fresh sheet from the stack.

He started drawing a shape in inky black.

A tree standing tall, bearing plump soccer balls.

With natural colors he did his magic hack.

"Wait for it," Papy smiled, and told the boy to go look outside.

In his backyard sprung a unique tree,

A mirror image of the one he drew.

Soccer balls dangled from its branches,

As if they were stuck with super glue.

The boy gaped, his jaw dropped. "You've got to be kidding me! Who are you?"

"Call me Papy."

"Okay, Mister Papy. I guess you're not so crappy."

"Unless I don't drink my 8 glasses from Hapi."
"Will you keep my secret?" whispered Papyman.

Tut bargained. "I will, on one condition.
Let me assist you on your secret mission."

After thinking for a minute or two,

Papy agreed. "Deal. But you have to know the danger in this world is real.

You'll fetch my water when I'm getting thirsty

And you will go home at 7:30."

"8:30!"

"Alrighty."

And that's how the story started getting flighty....
