Too Human For This World

I see it in your eyes

The brilliant flare

That men have lost

A light that's restless

Rare to see - As we

Little by little

Resemble ghosts

Something unaware

Blind....

Careless...

I see it in abundance

Dwelling...

Swelling...

A dancing fountain

In the middle of the desert

Quenching...

The thirst of the needy

Satiating...

The hunger of souls

Yearning for integrity

For a straw to grasp

For humanity...

I see the shimmer

The tear of truth

A silent cry

Of a wholesome core

To the depth of honor

An open door

Wide as the sea

for those who see

Your love and more

You hold the hands

Of broken hearts

A tight embrace

Smiles on your face

Without fail, you kiss

Vernal foreheads

Water their beds

With all your grace

You pat on backs

Of wrinkled gowns

With words of hope

Erase their frowns

And never did you

Complain...

For them you bear

Unspoken pain

For them you drop

Your royal crown

And yet....

You give more

Than you get

Cutting spears

Carve your skin

Your back bleeds

It never stops

Taking the hits

For you're the rock

That doesn't split

And you're the jock

Who doesn't quit

A noble being

A flag unfurled

A ray of sunshine

On earth impearled

You persevere

And you endure

The ruthless fight

Essence of Pure

The only cure

For every plight

And in your light

I see the truth

A tree ungnarled

Then I realize.....

You're just a dream

A fantasy of mine

'cause you're too fine

Too human

For this world.....
