"is this seat taken?" the boy asked, hovering around the seat next to ivy,
"no." she simply muttered, as he nodded and sat down.
the pair didn't talk to each other for the rest of the class; they had nothing to talk about, they had only just met. it wasn't an awkward silence as the teacher was comfortably teaching at the front of the class, and calum figured it was best not to interupt the class on his first day with simple conversation with the mysterious girl next to him.
although they didn't speak, she could feel him looking at her. every time she turned a page or shuffled slightly in her seat, he would turn his gaze to her, sometimes unconsciously, although he wanted to know more about her, for some odd reason.
class was soon over, much to ivy's disappointment, and she quickly made her way out of the class and down to whatever subject was next.
"uh- hey, um," an awkward voice called behind her. she tucked a piece of hair behind her ear and turned around to see calum,
"w-where is the biology room? i- uh, sorry, i'm new and i just-"
"i'm going there now, you can come with me if you like." she interupted, as he nodded, a small smile covering his features,
"i'm calum." he said as ivy nodded,
"ivy." she replied as they reached the classroom they were meant to be at,
"biology is just up these stairs.." she mumbled, wasting no time collecting her earphones from her pocket and plugging them back into her mobile phone,
"don't you do anything in this class?" calum questioned with a frown,
"it just doesn't interest me, i guess." she mumbled,
"what do you listen to?" he asked. ivy wasn't trying to be rude, she just didn't get this kind of attention before, even if it was typical conversation,
"lana, the 1975, the neighbourhood, daughter, the xx.." she went on. she could go on for days listing all the music she listened to,
"what about other bands, more upbeat music? any punk, rock?" he questioned as she shook her head,
"green day, blink 182?" he asked,
"nope." she chuckled as the teacher gave a confused look towards calum,
"this is calum, he's new." ivy stated quietly, sitting down in her usual seat,
"calum, theres a space next to ivy, just sit there and copy her notes." the teacher dismissed him as he sat down,
"do i have much to copy?" he sighed as ivy chuckled, opening her book to reveal pages of pointless doodles and song lyrics; none relating to biology whatsoever,
"okay then." he laughed as sky placed one headphone in the ear furthest from calum.
